With a PHP-FPM deployment, there are two levels of compression: in php and in nginx.Nginx comes with gzip support in all flavors of Linux. The above error occurs when php is built from source without zlib support. Here is how to configure php zlib extension separately assuming you still have the source:Code:root@server:/usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib# /opt/php-5.6.4/bin/phpizeCannot find config.m4. Make sure that you run '/opt/php-5.6.4/bin/phpize' in the top level source directory of the moduleroot@server:/usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib# cp -rp config0.m4 config.m4root@server:/usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib# /opt/php-5.6.4/bin/phpizeConfiguring for:PHP Api Version: 20131106Zend Module Api No: 20131226Zend Extension Api No: 220131226root@server:/usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib# ./configure --with-php-config=/opt/php-5.6.4/bin/php-config root@server:/usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib# make && make install/bin/bash /usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib/libtool --mode=install cp ./zlib.la /usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib/modulescp ./.libs/zlib.so /usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib/modules/zlib.socp ./.libs/zlib.lai /usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib/modules/zlib.laPATH="$PATH:/sbin" ldconfig -n /usr/src/php-5.6.4/ext/zlib/modules----------------------------------------------------------------------Libraries have been

I get the following error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function gzdecode() in ...\sites\MyScripts\fw2.php http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9801908/php-call-to-undefined-function-gzdecode on line 80 Yet, when I take a look at documentation, it does not seem like I would need to include an extra library, or am I being wrong? How can I solve this issue? UPDATE Following another question to check whether this library is installed on my PC, the answer is yes, it is. From PHP info: So this is getting more and more confusing... UPDATE II I have tried: and I get: 5.2.17, gzdecode no OK, zlib extension loaded php function undefined share|improve this question edited Mar 21 '12 at 10:59 asked Mar 21 '12 at 9:38 JVerstry 20.5k48164299 2 Hmm, interesting. "Zlib support in PHP is not enabled by default." but "The Windows version of PHP has built-in support for this extension. You do not need to load any additional extensions in order to use these functions." Not 100% certain what exactly this means. Are you on Windows or *NIX? –deceze Mar 21 '12 at 9:42 1 I am on Windows 7 using an Acquia Dev Desktop installat
