Also, the submitter only mentions it happening when saving configuration, but in fact it happens when creating articles and deleting them... and possible many other places. Posted on 11 Jun 2013, 9:03 by Nick Weavers I would call this a backward compatibility hit as there are broken websites caused by this change. Everything went fine, without any errors. However, when calling the site locally then (I configured database and users) the in the headline mentioned error message appears. Frankly speaking, from https://www.akeebabackup.com/support/site-restoration/22961-fatal-error-call-to-undefined-function-apc-fetch-in-d-xampp-htdocs-hobby25-libraries-joomla-cache-st.html the documentatiuon I read I understood not very much, only it seems that there are some file missing on my system. I though everything is delivered with XAMPP? I hope you can give me right kick... :-) I tried with different (older) versions of XAMPP, but the same. Does it have to do with my sytem Windows 8.1 64-bit? You have to manually disable it: please open the configuration.php file and search for the linepublic $cache_handler = 'apc';And replace it with:public $cache_handler = 'file';In this way Joomla won't try to use a non existing function, raising the fatal error you reported.
