The file isn't from the iTunes store so I don't think DRM on the track. What could be the issue? itunes data-synchronization mp3 drm share|improve this question asked Jun 28 '14 at 1:11 Imran 3893823 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted +50 iTunes might be refusing to sync mp3 cannot be played on this ipod the tracks because they use an encoding format that it knows isn't supported on iOS devices. As an example, the iPhone 5s technical specification on Apple's website lists the supported bitrates for constant rate MP3s as "8 to 320 Kbps". If the bitrate for the files is outwith those limits that might be the cause of the failure to sync the files. You could try using the "Create AAC Version" option on the right-click context menu in iTunes to create a copy in AAC format of one of the affected tracks, then attempt to sync the AAC copy, to see whether it is the format of the file that it is objecting to. You can also confirm the bitrate of the files by right-clicking on them and choosing Get Info. share|improve this answer answered Jul 9 '14 at 0:54 Alistair McMillan 7,98521341 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote I had this issue this morning. I had to force quit iTunes, unplug my iPhone, reboot it, then reconnect it and sync the playlists that wouldn't sync earlier. It seemed to work, as I now have those playlists. I think iTunes experienced a technical issue somehow with its encoding process. share|improve this answer edited Oct 19 '15 at 1:24 user24601 3,86611233 answered Oct 19 '15 at 1:17 Alec Cherkov 312 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote One way to confirm whether the files are really just MP3 files is to open them in QuickTime and then open the Inspector (hold ⌘

ways. What causes the error? It could be that iPod / iPad lacks codecs support in which movie file was encoded. Another possibility is that the resolution of the video is too high for your device to handle. Whatever the reason, the http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/136375/song-cannot-be-played-on-this-iphone solution is to convert the video files to the appropriate format. There are two ways to accomplish this and we are going to examine both of them. One way is to install third-party converter software but focus of this article will be how to convert video files directly from iTunes. Convert with third-party tools First lets briefly examine third-party converter software. There are many you can choose from, some free others not so much. Personally I have been using Free MP4 Video Converter. Whatever software http://www.howtosolutions.net/2013/02/itunes-fixing-video-file-cannot-be-played-on-ipod-ipad-error/ you have chosen, you have to accomplish three simple steps: First you convert the movie file using that tool Then add that file to the iTunes library Finally you have to Sync the library to your Device, just make sure that under Movie tab you have selected appropriate checkboxes so the video files will also be synced. Convert with iTunes Converting video directly from iTunes is very similar to the 3 steps above. Note: It seems, iTunes versions from June 2016 onwards don't have the options to convert the movies as described in the steps below. We can choose "Convert ID3 Tags…" and "Create AAC Version" but they are intended for music conversion and as such are disabled for movies. The reason for removal might be that Classic iPods and iPods in general are not supported anymore. Luckily, using 3rd party tools for movie conversions as mentioned in previous step solves this problem. You have to do the following: You add the video to the iTunes library. Then in iTunes go to the menu bar and select File > Create New Version and choose either Create iPod or iPhone Version or Create iPad or AppleTV Version depending on the device you are having. Option in iTunes to Convert video Whatever option you have chosen, iTunes should start converting the file as shown below: iTunes converting video file After conversion has ended, you will have both video files in iTunes. Select the original video and remove it from the list. After iTunes con
