I am trying out JDBC for MySQL in Eclipse/Spring on Fedora 17 Downloaded the mysql JDBC drivers (mysql-connector-java-5.1.22-bin.jar). Then in the IDE Created a project and named
Connection Cannot Be Resolved To A Type
it JDBC Created a folder called 'lib' under the project Went to Project > Properties . Selected the Java Build Path, then selected the 'Libraries' tab. clicked on 'Add Jars' Selected JDBC > lib > mysql---.jar and clicked OK. This added under the Project Explorer pane a 'Referenced Libraries', under which I see the mysql jar file. Wrote the following code under the project I kind of thought I had done what was needed to compile. However, I am seeing Class.forName(com.mysql.jdbc.Driver); com.mysql.jdbc.Driver cannot be resolved to a variable Can you tell me what's wrong here. import java.sql.Connection; import java.sql.DriverManager; import java.sql.PreparedStatement; import java.sql.ResultSet; import java.sql.SQLException; import java.sql.Statement; public class TestJDBC { /** * @param args */ public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception{ // TODO Auto-generated method stub Connection connection = null; Statement statement = null; PreparedStatement preparedStatement = null; ResultSet resultSet = null; try { Class.forName(com.mysql.jdbc.Driver); connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/testdb?" + "user=myuser&password=mypwd"); if (connection != null) { System.out.println ("Connected may be?"); connection.close(); } else { System.out.println ("Not connected?"); } } catch (Exception e) { connection.close();
it will." "If there is

any way to do it wrong, he will." When connection cannot be resolved to a type error in jsp software goes wrong, the MOST IMPORTANT thing to do is to FIND driver cannot be resolved to a variable selenium the ERROR MESSAGE, which can give you clues of what went wrong. If things were running fine until the lightning strikes, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13670536/compilation-error-com-mysql-jdbc-driver-cannot-be-resolved-to-a-variable ask yourself what have you CHANGED! Search this document with your Error Message; or simple google your error message. Stack Trace Most of the times, the error message consists of tens of lines of so-called stack trace of method invocation. That is, method https://www.ntu.edu.sg/home/ehchua/programming/howto/ErrorMessages.html A called method B, which called method C, and so on, until method Z encountered an error and threw an Exception or an Error. It is important to: Get to the first line of the error message to read the description, and Look for the line number of YOUR PROGEAM that triggered the error. For example, this error message (stack trace) has 40 over lines: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure <== First line with error description The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. The driver has not received any packets from the server. at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:57) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:45) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:525) at com.mysql.jdbc.Util.handleNewInstance(Util.java:411) at com.mysql.jdbc.SQLError.createCommunicationsException(SQLError.java:1116) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.
] [ subject ] [ author ] Dear http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/postgis-users/2007-January/014385.html all, Upon compilation of the JDBC driver, I'm https://www.postgresql.org/message-id/Pine.LNX.3.96.990302112315.1401B-100000@grumpy.it.as.ex.state.ut.us getting a 4 small, but annoying compilation errors. Does anybody know what I'm missing? I'm using the postgresql jdbc driver "postgresql-8.2-504.jdbc3.jar" to compile against along with the Java SDK 1.5. It seems that cannot be javac can't find "Driver.debug" and "Driver.info". Thanks for any help.
