The video show some things to check on the body first that sometimes resolve some problems these cameras can have. Then if that does not work I also show how to disassemble the camera and get the mirror magnets to start working again. A good beating! Then also how to reassemble the camera again.Note: The 1V / 1VHS is disassemble differently so this video will not help for that camera.Hope this helps someone. Categorie Zo-doe-je-
shutter is a super-high-speed vertical travel type focal plane shutter with all speeds electronically controlled. The design is based on the EOS-1's shutter too but the unit is an upgraded unit http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/eos/EOS-1n/Reliability/shutter.htm that features improved durability. One of the most significant area in the upgrade http://www.photography-forums.com/threads/eos-1n-shutter-doesnt-fire.12889/ is, the shutter now officially can deliver 100,000 exposure cycles without maintenance and 150,0000 cycles with maintenance - this enhancement has finally elevated Canon pro-series models at par in reliability performance with the Nikon single digit F series models. Which also means the EOS-1N has improved 1X than that of the previous Canon EOS-1. canon eos An interesting note of the shutter unit of the Canon EOS-1N was actually the SAME with the EOS-1N RS, with an exception it is a double layers formation, where the RS model shutter's rear curtain is used to provide a dual-layer light blocking function - when the camera is in standby mode. Which means to say, the shutter unit used in the EOS-1N is the same shutter unit canon eos 1n designed for the EOS-1N RS, with the only difference being that the dual-layer light-blocking mechanism is simply not used. Due to the EOS-1n RS construction, light passing through the full surface of the pericle mirror constantly impinges on the shutter curtains. To maintain the same light blocking capability as the EOS-1N, therefore, the rear shutter blades are partially driven to provide two light-blocking layers in the top half of the body aperture. The light blocking mechanism adds an extra step to the shutter drive sequence compared to the EOS-1N, but both shutter unit's overall operation durability are the same. On the other hand, the sub-mirror is the EOS-1N is a spring driven type but the EOS-1N RS is low shock/noise but it is motor driven (via shcnage of assignment of Motor 2, further in RS Mode, the sub mirror is always in a retracted position). seems to work in all aspects except for the shutter not working. When I press the shutter release, it shows the exposure info in the viewfinder and the lens auto focuses. When I press the shutter release fully, the lens stops down, but nothing else happens. The top display panel will then flash "bc" as if an error condition exists, which I suppose is true. This will stop when I press the shutter release half way again. I have replaced the battery and also tried firing the shutter without the lens and neither of these help. I also removed the battery for several days, but this made no difference (the problem did start after I replaced a dead battery that was in the camera for several months). If anyone has any ideas about anything I can do to fix this, let me know. Thanks. (respond to the group if possible. if needed my email address is dlr at cs dot pdx dot edu) Dan R. Dan R, Aug 16, 2004 #1 Advertisements z-one-b Guest Have you tried asking canon? Maybe this is a common (or at least known) problem. eqw "Dan R" <> wrote in message news:%qaUc.80416$... > Hi, > > I have a canon eos-1n that seems to work in all aspects except for the > shutter not working. They basically said try a different lens, replace the battery, maybe something else, and if those don't help, send it to us for repair. I think maybe it needs a reboot or full reset, but there is no such user function that I am aware of. Dan z-one-b wrote: > Have you tried asking canon?
