Gepubliceerd op 27 mei 2013Description of an error with the Canon 30D. The camera displays the error message "err99" which as most know is a catch-all error code for "something is wrong"!The error message is displayed between every 5 & 20 shutter actuations. In burst mode it appears almost always after every 5 shutter clicks. The error requires the battery to be removed to clear it but DOES NOT prevent the last image being written to the media card! The particular error with this body therefore appears to be the error message itself as its been operating (annoyingly) like this for over a year now without any other symptoms. As I have already moved onto other camera bodies its time to let go and say goodbye! Sharing the error before it goes on Ebay and so any potential buyers can see exactly what they are buying!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32113342924... now - and on holiday last week I got the Err99 message (pic attached).
Canon Eos 30d Manual
Briefly what happened:first symptoms of an error were when, on completely zooming in using my 18-55mm lens, the camera would not auto-focus, canon eos 30d how to use and spent a good few seconds going in and out of focus before giving up.then I started seeing flickering through the eyepiece.on changing lenses, the problem seemed to go away, until a few days later https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbWCu8hpKUA when, each time I tried to take an image, I got the error.through all this, there have been a number of times when pressing the shutter-release resulted in nothing happening. So, I've tried taking the lens off and cleaning the contacts, then replacing and trying to take a shot - still get the error message.I've tried replacing the battery - error message.I've tried the shutter release with no lens attached - error message.I https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3162610 haven't tried another CF card yet - that's just occurred to me! Could this be the issue, or is my camera an ex-camera?Any advice would be welcome. Many thanks

It may help some of you isolate the problem before you post a comment/question.To isolate the cause of the issue, we suggest that you do the following:1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera. 5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.Does the “ERR 99″ message appear? If it does, then the camera should be serviced. If it does not, then please proceed to the next set of steps:1. Turn off the camera. 2. Insert theis probably the most boring article I’ve written for LensRentals. (Personally, I like Smashed Front Element the best.) But, I love a good mystery, and I love debunking dSLR “urban legends”. Every https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2008/12/canons-error-99-the-man-the-myth/ so often I run across an online forum where someone makes broad statements about Error 99 which I know are incorrect or at least incomplete. As is my practice, I’ve boldly charged into these http://forums.steves-digicams.com/canon-eos-dslr/134279-error-99-message-30d.html online gunfights devoid of intellectual ammunition (i.e. facts). And predictably, the intellectual level of the discussions quickly spirals down from “Is not”, “Is so” into the traditional online-forum sign-offs of “You get Err99 canon eos because you’re a bad photographer” and “if you’ve never gotten Err99 you’re obviously not taking many pictures”. Because Canon Corporate apparently believes that releasing no information about a problem makes it go away, there is little factual information to debunk the online myths regarding Err99 unless you really do a lot of digging. Googling Err99, Canon EOS error codes, etc. brings up several dozen pages of links most canon eos 30d of which are the above mentioned “discussions”. There are a few nuggets of truth out there, though. The most complete of these is a multi-year 2,300 post discussion of Err99 problems at Richard’s Notes. There are also a few thoughtful and factual discussions that have taken place in some of the better forums online. After spending far more hours than I intended looking through these sources to settle an online debate, I thought I’d write a summary of what I found and what we’ve experienced here— LensRentals has over 700 Canon lenses and over 50 Canon bodies (as of December 2008), so we have a bit of Err99 experience. The Myths Some of the most common Err99 myths are listed below. Strictly speaking, they are not myths; almost every one is true. The myth part comes from thinking that any one of them is actually the cause of Err99. So: Err99 results from an electronic communication problem between the lens and the camera. Err99 results from using third-party (i.e. Sigma, Tamron, Tokina) lenses. Err99 means that electronic circuitry in the lens has failed. Err99 means that electronic circuitry in the camera has failed. Err99 results from using third party batteries. Err99 i

Thanks Jim Sponsored Links Dec 25, 2007, 4:00 PM #2 hgernhardtjr Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 516 Firs thing to do is ensure the lens and camera contacts are clean ... I gently use an eraser such as those on the end of a "stick" pen (or a pencil if no stick pen is available ... the stick pen eraser is a bit rougher). The few times this has occurred for me was with oxidized contacts on a non-Canon lens. Never had problems with my Canon lenses, though. After that, well ... perhaps someone else has a suggestion ... Try a different lens and clean the contact points in camera too. Try a new CF card, Try a new battery Serious reasons could be related to Shutter mechanism. I have had that problem. If the camera is within the warranty period the shutter assembly is usually replaced Hope this helps. It's not the lens for sure, although some lenses may draw more power than others... Like nymphetamine said, Err99 is a general fault and usually occurs with a "weak" battery. A freshly charged battery can still not provide enough "oomph" i.e. current when it is old hence the processor inside the camera encounters a general fault (equivalent of a blue PC screen) -> Replacing the battery with a new one (or higher rating) usually solve the problem Dec 26, 2007, 1:31 PM #6 killdeer0007 Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Posts: 1,328 Thanks NHL - I'll give it a try.
