Please respond with the model of your printer and if you were able to fix it, what you did to fix it.We need to put pressure on Canon to respond this product defect. It appears to be bad firmware that does not allow the user to override the problem and to continue to use the printer even in a degraded mode. From my investigations the problem is NOT a printhead issue - no way one can be printing fine and then have this error alert without having changed the printhead or ink cartridges!Canon, PLEASE take this issue seriously and provide a solution across the affected models. If nothing else there should be a trade-in allowance for those printers that have been affected by this product defect.I h

I took out cartridges and head, put them back in, and no change. 15 people had this problem. Open the cover of the printer.2. Remove all ink tanks from the printer.3. Lift up the gray locking lever on the side of the ink tank holder.4. Gently remove the print head from the carriage unit.5. Place the print head back in and lock the lever down.6. Place all of the ink tanks back in the printer.7. Close the cover and turn the printer off.8. Unplug the power from the printer. Leave the power unplugged for about 5-10 minutes.Once this has been done, plug the power back in and turn the printer on. If the error persists, please contact our support group us
MP610, MP970 and others... Message error: The type of print head is incorrect install the correct print head U052 Solution 1: Remove and replace the cartridges. Solution 2: Insert new cartridges Solution 3: Reseat the print head to correct print issues or clear error. http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2010/11/error-u052-on-canon-printers.html Solution 3a (thanks to Tony LeBaigue): Remove the ink cartridges. Remove the printhead: cleaned the rear contacts with a cotton bud and surgical spirit. Left the part 5 minutes to dry. Install the printhead and the cartridges. The printer wil be into printhead clean mode and will return to normal mode. Solution 3b (thanks to Arjen - Canon MP610): Power off the printer. Press and hold both selection buttons underneath the screen, and switch on the printer. After a long canon pixma start up the 'copy' screen appeared, and it printed a copy of a sheet. Solution 4: Clean the printhead Solution 4a: The print head is broken and it must be changed by a new one. Libellés : Error code 55 comments: Lowndes said... Judging from all the posts I see on this very same problem, as well as my experience, this is a manufacturer's problem, a system defect. I've got this error and it is THE SAME print head that canon u052 error came with the printer. Genuine CANON cartridges, always. Found a forum where a few folks tried rehabbing their existing print head. They ran water through the print head until the water ran clear, then allowed it to dry thoroughly before re-installing. A few claim it worked. It didn't work for me,same old U052 message, but it also didn't cost me any extra money...What is so frustrating about this error is that it makes the unit completely inoperable. The scanner is still perfectly functional, bur I can't use it because the printer error message takes over the whole unit!Looks like the next step is to try a replacement.
