I thnk the 6A00 is a mechanism jam code.Regarding Error code 6A00. I have a Canon Pixma iP5000. I got that code. No easy answers on the net so I took it apart myself. The covers are all snap locked on. It was a bit painful but I got the side and top covers off to reveal the print head. There is a device that slides back n forth and acts like a window cleaners squeegie on the printhead. This mechanism seemed to be stuck at its full extention rather than being back at home base. Every time I turned it on and off I could see it tried to move but seemed to be stuck. I gave it a little assistance and that released it. I think it had become glugged up with drying ink and that had acted like a glue holding it out at full extension. The mechanism that drives the sliding squeegie relies on a spring for it to return. I just bought a used (yeah, I know) Canon MP830 and I keep getting the dreaded errors in the subject line. I have done EVERYTHING that I have read on the internet. My last ditch effort was removing the ink pads and soaking them with windex (most recommended), let them dry, put them back in and still no damn luck. Does anyone out there have any other ideas? canon pixma ip4000 Please, I want to win! And yes, all the lastest drivers and software have been installed. I thank you for any time taken to help me out. Can you push a small piece of heavy paper or card through the paper path to check that it is completely clear of debris? You could also try moving the print head back and fourth on its carriage manually to check if there are any obstruction and that it can move freely from one side to the other (unplug cable). Try this with the print head and cartridges removed and report back..
