I thnk the 6A00 is a mechanism jam code.Regarding Error code 6A00. I have a Canon Pixma iP5000. I got that code. No easy answers on the net so I took it apart myself. The covers are all snap locked on. It was a bit painful but I got the side and top covers off to reveal the print head. There is a device that slides back n forth and acts like a window cleaners squeegie on the printhead. This mechanism seemed to be stuck at its full extention rather than being back at home base. Every time I turned it on and off I could see it tried to move but seemed to be stuck. I gave it a little assistance and that released it. I think it had become glugged up with drying ink and that had acted like a glue holding it out at full extension. The mechanism that drives the sliding squeegie relies on a spring for it to return. The spring wasn't strong enough to over come the gluey ink and so the whole thing jammed up which is probably what the code means - jammed mechanism. If you are going to try i

It gets very annoying too. Most of the time a can reset it and it will clear, but occasionally it's more stubborn.Question - Where did you find details http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/30317 on the error leading you to a vavle "disfunction"? I've been unable to determine anything from Canon support.BTW - I've have my Canon for 5-6 months and started getting this error on the first weekend of printing. I tend to see it every 10-20 print jobs. Thanks and good luck. by unknown on Dec 17, 2005 at 3:43pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 hello please link download service tool version ip4840 send me by unknown on Dec 1, 2010 at 4:04pm Add comment Please sign in to comment Please sign in to comment Canon Pixma IP4000 Buy discount ink Buy this printer More Canon questions © Copyright 2011-2016, FixYourOwnPrinter.com, Inc. Hi, 5100 is a Carriage Home Position Error Please try the following after switching off the printer: First make sure nothing is keeping the print head from moving all the way across the printer. If the smallest thing blocks the head from going all the way across it will generate this error. You want to look hard for ANY obstructions anywhere. Throughly check the gears and rollers for obstructions too. Second the code strip (or timing strip) is the 1/4 inch plastic strip that runs across the printer and through the head carriage. It is got supports on both sides. If becomes dislodged it will generate this error. (it is got a tesnsion spring on one end) Third manually move the print head to the center. Then turned the printer back on. If this does not help then you may have a problem with carriage assembly or lo
