Error message: The LED light blinks twice (2xs) and displays: "Error 5100 An error occurred in canon pixma ip4200 printer driver download windows 7 the carriage encoder signal". Let's march down the troubleshooting path and look at probable solutions and how to reset Canon error code 5100. The first thing that you should do with a printer error https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwxn9cWKy7k of any type is try to reset the Canon MP printer. Occasionally an error code is a matter of a crossed signal between the Canon ink jet printer and the computer. Rebooting the Canon pixma printer might fix the problem with no more fuss. 1) Clear debris from carriage head to eliminate canon error 5100 Open the Canon printer and look closely for any debris such as small pieces http://www.mytechtime.com/2011/10/canon-error-5100-how-to-fix.html of paper or dirt lodged inside. If such debris is found, remove it, plug Canon pixma back in and see if error code has cleared. 2) Lubricate the purge cap If the Canon printer has excess dirt or dust you can use a damp lint free paper towel to gently clean the Canon printer. Once device is cleaned plug it back in and see if error 5100 has cleared. If cleaning and clearing the device does not work then you may need to lubricate the purge cap.The purge cap is the sliding mechanism that the printer head parks into when it is not in use. To lubricate it you will need to remove the right panel from the devise. Once the panel is removed rub a little white grease along the sliders while taking care not to get any grease on the small wipers or the black caps. Once this is done, replace the panel, plug devise back in and see if the error 5100 has cleared. 3) Paper Jammed Odds are greatest a rogue piece of paper has nested itself in like a rat in a haystack. The solution is to remove all ink cartridges and hit it with canned air, or any
me a Service Error 5100. I tried 'reseting' the printer using the service mode, but nothing worked. I was wondering if anyway to fix this on my own, or do I have to bring it to a repair shop. Note: Physical damage to the printer seemed minimal.. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/25975 I opened it up and the only broken parts seemed to be part of the casing. Respond to this 1 5100 is a carriage error, check the timing strip for contamination(plastic strip about 1/4" in width) The unit is not homing, check for obstructions. by unknown on Dec 23, 2004 at 5:28am Add comment Please sign in to comment I bought one right out of the box had problems. After looking for this strip I seen where it had some clear type grease on it. Once I clean it my printer canon pixma worked fine. - Anonymous 1 How did you get into service mode? I need to reset my waste ink tank count. Thanks. Larry by unknown on Dec 24, 2004 at 5:00pm Add comment Please sign in to comment i hate my job - Anonymous 1 In my case my 2 year old daughter had placed a small bottle out of sight to the left of the ink cartridges. Took a while to spot but everything is hunky dory since we got the toy out of the mechanism ! 5100 therefore canon pixma ip4200 seems to be anything that prevents the cartridge from fully running to and fro across the page, This could be a blockage but could equally be ink on the mechanism that causes it to slip. If this dries it could account for the printing to resume without any apparent fix. by unknown on Jul 12, 2006 at 11:51am Add comment Please sign in to comment whew,,,,thanx for this..reali found it helpful....found whats blocking my printer..now its perfect again...=) for now at least...=p - unknown 1 To: sguadalajaraBrilliant advice, thank you! All test sheets print normally. I have reset, cleaned, aligned and reinstalled updated drivers on my Mac. For some reason the margins slant to the left as the document is printed. The margin starts at 2.5 cm from left hand edge of the paper and about 3/4 the way down the page it measures 1.8. So, the document appears slanted to the left. The paper is coming out parallel to the sides of the tray and does not jam. When printing jpegs the printer will print about 1/2 page and then stop and gives the 5100 error code. I emailed Canon and they have indicated that it is an internal error and since it is not uder warranty I would have to pay to have it fixed.
