All prints have very faint lines running through (so faint my husband struggles to see them, but they are perfectly obvious and unacceptable to me). I have tried cleaning, deep cleaning, print head alignment and turning on and off lots of times, but still the problem remains. I only use https://www.ephotozine.com/forums/topic/canon-ip4500-problems-71038 canon inks. I have tried printing from ps elements, from dpp and downloaded easyphotoprints to print straight from there, as I have read others saying prints are best straight from there. No luck. I had an ip5000 before this, and that scarcely lasted a year before it printed so badly that I replaced it. Do others have these problems, or am I just unlucky? :-( And does anyone know of a possible remedy? I was thinking of getting a bigger format printer, but there seem to be so many problems with reliability that it seems like more trouble than it's worth. Install an appropriate print head and close the cover of the printer" This error message appeared despite me not having touched the printhead other than canon pixma ip4500 to change ink. Also it appeared months after my last ink change. What should I do? Submitted: 4 years ago. Category:Printers Share this conversation Expert: Freddy M. replied4 years ago. Remove all the ink cartridges from the machineThen clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itselfDo this with a small amount of warm water on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swabIf any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging replace themThen turn off the machine and unplug it for 70 secondsPlug it back it and wait for the insert cartridges messageInsert the cartridges and check to see if the problem is still thereIf it is it means the print head has failedIn order to fix this the print head inside the printer needs to be replacedThe print head is the part of the printer that puts ink from the cartridges onto the pageYou can get one from here: Click Here ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please click "Accept” so I am paid

I used it one day, and all was fine, then the next time I turned it on, it says there is no printer head or the one installed is incompatible with the printer. Have tried reinstalling the printer drivers x3 without success. Printer does between 500 -1,000 pages per week most weeks, mostly black, but some coloured stuff of late. Also tried cleaning the head gently with a tissue. Any helpful advice would be very much appreciated. xandrag47 View Public Profile View message headers Find all posts by xandrag47 Find all threads started by xandrag47 #2 July 14th 08, 02:13 PM posted to comp.periphs.printers davy external usenet poster Posts: 1 Canon Pixma iP4500 printer head problem Since it's only 6 months old I'd certainly get in touch with the place of purchase or maybe contact Canon support at least, since it is under warranty. Removing the head to clean the contacts on the side very carefully with piece of kitchen towel paper and then refit and give another try might be worth a try. Something else you can try.... unplug the Printer power cord for a about three minutes then try again just in case the printer CPU is corrupted through to mains borne interference, the spikes you get in thunderstorms, high winds when the overhead power lines starts arching and flashing, this type of interference often locks TV sky and cable boxes up. I have the IP5000 it's way out of guarantee and still going strong not heavily used as yours mind. davy davy View Public Profile View message headers Find all posts by davy Find all threads started by davy #3 July 14th 08, 04:55 PM posted to comp.periphs.printers measekite external usenet poster Posts: 3,432 Canon Pixma iP4500 printer head problem If you have always used OEM ink then Canon may well send you a new one or at the least send you a
