X-Pro2 > Medium Format Fuji Announced! Dismiss Notice "! Card is Protected" message on startup Discussion in 'X-Pro1 and X-Pro2' started by refiningman, Jul 12, 2013. refiningman Premium Member Messages: 1,394 Likes Received: 467 Location: North Texas -Return to Top- Anyone else see this message when you first turn on the camera? Of course, I checked the SD card and the sliding tab was in the unlocked (top) position. Tried again. Same result. Tried another card. Same again. Took the first card out, deleted everything on it in Finder, tried again. Same result. So I put the card in my Nikon 1 and formatted the card. Then, back to the XP1, and it accepted it. I immediately reformatted it in the Xp1. Then I tried the second card, that the XP=1 initially had rejected, It too now works (I did nothing to that second card). Obviously, the issue is in the camera and not the cards. Anyone else have this experience? refiningman, Jul 12, 2013 #1 zen Premium Member Messages: 262 Likes Received: 81 Location: new jersey -Return to Top- the mechanism in the sd card slot that reads to see if the card is in the locked position or not is broken. the camera will have to be repaired. zen, Jul 12, 2013 #2 EyeForget Premium Member Messages: 2,191 Likes Received: 470 Location: USA & Switzerland -Return to Top- Yes, I've seen this message before. Doubtful if its an issue. I forget what I did but probably the same thing you did. Happened once in 2 1/2 years with an X100 and XE-1, forget which camera. EyeForget, Jul 13, 2013 #3 refiningman Premium Member Messages: 1,394 Likes Received: 467 Location: North Texas -Return to Top- Hope you are right, I'm off to Yellowstone next Friday. maybe I'll bring along a spare toothpick or two in case I need to fiddle with the camera's card reader refiningman, Jul 13, 2013 #4 jknights Moderator Staff Member Messa
