sudden has started giving you CF memory card errors. You've tried several different memory cards, and it's still the same thing. Your camera is inoperative due to this error. Don't fret, you just might be https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/1703434 able to fix this problem yourself.Take a look inside your camera's CF card slot. It's very likely that you may have a bent pin in there. If so, remove batteries and card. Use a small/skinny jeweler's flat screwdriver to bend the pin back as close as possible. The jeweler's screwdrivers that you see at the dollar store will work fine. Another tool that I sometimes use is a stiff wire with a http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2009/06/fixing-compact-flash-memory-card-error.html bent hook on the end to get very flattened pins started. Take your time and use as much patience as you can muster (take a breather in between if needed). Just keep nudging it upward/straighter a "tiny bit at a time". Whatever you do, don't try to unbend it with one push/nudge, you won't be able to do it.It doesn't have to be perfect, just as close as you can get it. When it's the best that you can get it, take your flash card and "SLOWLY" insert it. The card itself should fine-align the pin. Remove the card, and verify that the pin is still straightened. If so, reinsert the card and try it out. My camera is showing me this message (Error Memory Card) from time http://www.dgrin.com/archive/index.php/t-4854.html to time. It is then not functioning. I took it twice to the Canon repair place in Guatemala Ciudad. Each time they tell me "my camera is perfect"… Can anyone tell me what could be the REAL problem, so next card error time I go there (a very dangerous city), I could tell them EXACTLY what they have to do. Thanks a lot for helping me. jean.pierre.dodge@gmail.com Sponsored Links Aug 3, 2007, 5:06 PM #2 TCav Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Washington, DC, Metro Area, Maryland Posts: 13,394 Off the top of my head, I'd say that you probably haven't removed and inserted the flash memory card. That can cause oxidation to accumulate around the contacts cf card error on the card and in the camera. This is especially true in humid environments. I don't think there's anything wrong with the camera. I think you need to remove and re-insert the card. You may want to clean the SD card contacts with a pencil eraser, but this probably isn't necessary. It should be a menu item. If the card has been in the camera since you bought it TCav could be right. But out of patien with all this (I'm travelling and need my camera every day) I simply spay some medical alcohol (little spay bottle) I have in my first aid kit... I inserted and removed many time one of the cars... I finaly got rid of the message. I don't think the Canon Shop did a good cleaning job. They forgot to clean 'behing the ears". Aug 4, 2007, 1:15 PM #5 TCav Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Washington, DC,
near flawlessly for almost two years now. Yesterday it stopped working properly. When I turn on the camera I get the message "memory card error". I have two CF cards, a 32Mb one and a 512Mb one. I get the same error message with both cards. In my history of owning this camera, I have got the "memory card error" message only twice before. The two previous times I got the error message was when I stopped to take pictures while riding the motorcycle, the camera was cold, because it was in my tank-bag. Once it warmed up in my hands, the error message disappeared. One other symptom. The camera can still power up just fine, I can play with the zoom, the menus, etc. If I ask the camera to format the memory card it gives me the error message E50 in the bottom-left side of the display screen, then it promptly powers off. Between the time the camera was working and today it has lived a pretty sheltered life. One flight from Edmonton to Oregon. It's been x-rayed, and has been briefly exposed to -20C weather. When outside in Edmonton I kept it in a pocket close to my body so it never got too cold. :dunno I'm guessing this is either 1) a condensation problem that might take a few days to resolve itself or 2) some electronics may have been damaged by expansion and contraction from the temperatures the camera experienced and maybe the camera is now defective. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas? luckyrweDec-31-2004, 05:16 PMCan you format the card in your computer? I had a 512mb card go bad suddenly, and the manufacturer swapped it out, no questions asked. Are they the same brand card? The 512Mb card is SanDisk, the 32Mb card is Compactflash (which was bundled with the camera). Somehow I doubt this is the issue. First, both of the cards can be read just fine by my laptop and both of the cards can not be read by my camera. Both cards worked just fine in the camera 5 days ago so it seems strange to me that somehow both of the cards fai
