This should be able to be done under $200 for a decent one. The other option is to find a service shop that fixes factory radios, but this will cost probably just about as much for the labor of pulling the radio, getting it checked out and then fixed and reinstalled. Also if you buy a new one it will have a warranty on it...just my opinion....can you tell i work at a car audio shop?? __________________ I/O Magic 1655 gcab Benq 1620 b7w9...i think its broke!!!!! g replaced w/ a 1655 from benq !!!!BCGB sony (lite-on sohw-832s) cg5g plextor px-504a 1.02 17-08-2005 #5 insertlamename New on Forum Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 5 Re: Car Cd Player Error heh yeah I can tell. My 2004 Jeep Liberty CD player will not play CD's anymore. You can hear the CD spinning and spinning, but after about fifteen seconds, an error message comes up. I assumed the lens needed cleaning, so I purchased a CD lens cleaner and, you guessed it, it will not play that CD either. Duh! I have read that removing the radio fuses and then plugging them back in will "reset the CD player back to factory settings." I tried that, and all it did was set my radio's clock back to 12:00! I'm pretty sure the answer to the que

ProductsHomearound the homeentertainmentHow to Fix a CD Changer Error 3How to Fix a CD Changer Error 3By Jason CandanedoThe multi-disc CD players are called "changers," because they change the CDs mechanically, allowing CDs to play back to back. Sometimes, these players can act up. If they do, they will usually show an error code. Error code 3 means a mechanical error concerning the laser lens and around the lens, which can be fixed through troubleshooting.Things You'll NeedCan of compressed airIsopropyl alcoholLens-cleaning disc (optional)Cotton swabsWD40 sprayScrewdriverStep 1Remove the player's screws with the appropriate screwdriver. Remove all accumulated debris and dust that might have collected in the player causing the mechanism to fail. You can get rid of this by spraying the inside of the player with a can of compressed air.Step 2Soak a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and wipe the CD player laser eye until it is free of grime. Grime on the lens can cause the CD to lock up by not being able to read the disc properly. Or, as another viable option, insert a CD lens-cleaning disc into the player and press "Play." This disc will wipe the lens clean.Step 3Inspect the player's fuse. If it is blown, the glass will be covered with a white film and the filament will be severed. A blown fuse can cause an Error 3 because it will stall the player. Purchase a compatible fuse in a retail hardware chain and replace the fuse.Step 4Ensure that the gears are fully lubricated. If not, lubricate with WD40 spray oil. If you see gear belts off of the gears, reattach them.Step 5Reattach the player by putting the screws back in with the screwdriver. Test the player by inserting several CDs in the player and allowing them to change. If they play and change without issue, the error code should be fixed.References & ResourcesAudio Media: CDRepair FAQ: Troubleshooting and Repairing CD Players Player MaintenanceRepair FAQ: Troubleshooting and Repairing CD PlayersTeam Clarion: General-Radio Error CodesCrutchfield: How to Choose
