This is a problem in alot of gm and chrysler cars especially the chryslers w/ the tape and cd.. __________________ I/O Magic 1655 gcab Benq 1620 b7w9...i think its broke!!!!! g replaced w/ a 1655 from benq !!!!BCGB sony (lite-on sohw-832s) cg5g plextor px-504a 1.02 17-08-2005 #3 insertlamename New on Forum Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 5 Re: Car Cd Player Error It's car cd player repair a 1999 Saturn SL2 17-08-2005 #4 AWILLIAMS64 MyCE Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 235 Re: Car Cd Player Error basically it is a gm radio so the best thing to do is go to a reputable car audio shop and have them put you on a new aftermarket radio. This should be able to be done under $200 for a decent one. The other option is to find a service shop that fixes factory radios, but this will cost probably just about as much for the labor of pulling the radio, getting it checked out and then fixed and reinstalled. Also if you buy a new one it will have a warranty on it...just my opinion....can you tell i work at a car audio shop?? __________________ I/O Magic 1655 gcab Benq 1620 b7w9...i think its broke!!!!! g replaced w/ a 1655 from benq !!!!BCGB sony (lite-on sohw-832s) cg5g plextor px-504a 1.02 17-08-2005 #5 insertlamename New on Forum Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 5 Re: Car Cd Player Error heh yeah I can tell. So there is no way to fix it? It did this before and a couple of days later I put a CD in and it played just like usual and it worked for about 4 months after that and now its giving me the error again. 17-08-2005 #6 AWILLIAMS

I'm trying to avoid going to the Dealership for this, but doubt that possibility unfortunately. When I Load a CD in, it sits there for a second, makes the "loading" noise, then reads "Error" on the screen.

Hello; The type of problem you are experiencing is internal to the CD player; disconnecting the battery or doing anything else external is not likely to have any effect on it.What you might want to try is to run a CD player cleaner disc through it; if it is a problem caused by a dirty head or pickup, this sometimes helps. CD cleaner discs are available at Wal-mart or any electronics store. If this does not help, the CD player will need to be removed from the car and sent in to a service center to be repaired. Here is the contact information for one of the larger electronics repair centers that auto dealers and repair shops use for this type of service:http://www.unitedradio.com/automotive/ Ask Your Own Car Question Customer: replied6 years ago. this was no help, not able to put cleaning disc in player Expert: Steve replied6 years ago. In that case, the unit will have to be removed and sent in to a repair center to be repaired by an electronics technician. This is how car dealerships and mechanics repair this type of problem; this is not something you can fix yourself at home in the driveway (nor can your mechanic even with thousands of dollars of professional equipment to work with). I provided for you above a link to one of the largest repair centers that professional mechanics and dealerships use for this type of repair; usually they can quote you a repair estimate over the phone if you call them and explain what type of radio you have before you even send it in.One other option is to purchase a used CD player from a salvage yard, and replace the defective one you have now...
