Engine: 3.8L V6 Transmission: Automatic Posted 13 December 2012 - 06:08 PM I just wanted to give a quick explination of how I fixed my monsoon stereo with an E20 error... while was at the junkyard getting a new door for my 97 FIrebird I happened to notice an 02 firebird down the line... so I thought id check it for some of delco cd player troubleshooting the internal parts Im looking for... well it did not have any... but the trim around the stereo and AC had been removed (aswell as the AC controlls) and since my CD player would not work in my Firebird I thought I would take this one... so I did when I finally got around to messing with it I plugged the 02 stereo into my car and it had the same issue... E20... and it spit the CD back out (which was better than keeping it I suppose) well I did some googeling and realized that E20 ment the cd player could not focus on the CD that was inserted into it... HRMM... why not?!? common sense says its dirty... so I took out the screws holding the CD player into the stereo... there are 2 on the back (T10s) and 1 on the side and one on the top (both smaller than T10) and undid the wire harness that was pluged into the CD player itself... I gave it a good once over... found the lense... it looked fine... but I gave it a good

Correction(s): It the tape player is still playing a cassette, try a new cassette. If there is still an error, service the unit at an ACDelcoŽ Service Center. E14 : Wrapped Tape Cause(s): The tape is wrapped around the capstan. This means a delco cd player tape is wound up in the tape player. This error message could appear when a CD adapter is being used. Other causes could be old or damaged tapes. Long playing (90 or 120 minute) tapes are thin and can stretch easily creating this condition. Correction(s): Try playing a known good quality tape. Remove the CD adapter. C ln Tape Indicator Cause(s): This message appears after 50 hours of accumulated tape play. Correction(s): We suggest cleaning the tape head. Then reset the radio by depressing the eject button for five seconds. Cleaning the heads will not reset the "Cln" display. To reset the "Cln" display, push and hold the eject button for five seconds. The display will return to its normal display. CD Errors E20 : Focus Error Cause(s): The CD player cannot focus on the disc or there is an internal focus problem. Correction(s): Try cleaning the disc or using a new disc. Make sure the disc is loaded correctly. The road could be too rough or there is too much humidity.
