I've got Windows 7 x64 installed and my power went out during boot today. After restarting, I

got this error during boot: "BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot." I put in my Win 7 disc and tried to boot from it, but after pressing "any key to boot from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/the-file-is-possibly-corrupt-the-file-header/a7dcc0ea-8d7e-4131-a2fb-b13203cd3cd4 cd / dvd .." I get this error: "The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum." All the fixes I can find online have to do with using the recovery console, which would be awesome, if I could actually get to that point. I even tried my old Vista and XP discs, but I don't even get as far as above. The computer http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/bootmgr-then-checksum-issue-computer-wont-boot just stops with a small cursor near the top, often having to be powered off to restart because ctrl+alt+del doesn't even work. A fresh install is just not an option because I have important business data on the computer that I can't afford to lose. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a solution. Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top tazcat Posts: 84 This post has been reported. The laptop is plugged in as the battery is dead. Regardless I tried removing battery & starting & I get the same error. It will NOT boot to safe mode and if I tap F2 I can get into that diagnostics & nothing wrong is found. If I press F8 or F11 the laptop just beeps and does nothing. Only way to shut down laptop is hard shut down. It's running as I can hear it but it just will not go past the error. Is there any way to fix this or am I off the repair shop & probable expense. We do not have boot disc or repair disc nor any other pc that is running Vista.Thank you See More: Laptop boot Error: Checksum does not match computed checksum Report • #1 riider August 23, 2013 at 12:05:00 ✔ Best AnswerSounds like you may have bad RAM. If you have multiple memory sticks installed, try temporarily taking one out. Or try running memtest86 to see if any RAM errors are found. Report • #2 attysecy August 23, 2013 at 14:46:25 ok, I will try. I've not taken a laptop apart so we'll see what I find. Thanks Report • #3 attysecy August 23, 2013 at 15:19:39 I pulled out the top stick of ram & restarted laptop. It's going through startup repair as I type!Hopefully this will solve the problem and I will just order a new stick of ram. Thanks so much.
