If custom your need to start tapping the Del. key continuously as soon as you turn on the computer. If store bought you need to read the screens to see which keystroke gets you into the BIOS (setup) screens and tap just like I described.Do not connect a PS/2 keyboard while the system is under power. Don't use adapters on it either. Report • #7 steve123123 March 2, 2012 at 08:09:59 could u te

A few days ago I started up my computer and then after I had been on the internet for a while it just rebooted itself. So I kept starting it up then when everything had loaded it just kept rebooting. Now it doesn't even http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/cmos-checksum-error-defaults-loaded.171622/ load up it goes to a black screen that says something about CMOS checksum error - Defaults Loaded. I've searched for other people with this problem and the responses tend to be to do something with the BIOS (sorry, I'm not very technical. I don't even know what the BIOS are) but my problem is my keyboard has now become unresponsive that I can't get it into anywhere to change the settings. When I start up all the lights come on for a second (num lock, caps lock and scroll lock) but then go off and my keyboard becomes unresponsive. Then when I try to reboot the computer from the power button it doesn't even start up now! (It's just going from bad to worse) Like it turns on (I think it's the fan that makes a noise?) but nothing happens the screens black, it doesn't even make that beeping noise it usually does when it's just starting to start up. I have to wait for a while (like a good few hours or even a day) before I can try and start it up again and it will go to the CMOS checksum error screen. Please help! And, if possible, please put things as simply as possible as (maybe you can tell) I'm

I have a MSI K7N2 Delta2 -LSR motherboard with Award BIOS. I used the MSI flash update program to update my BIOS. Something went wrong, and now my computer does not boot up correctly. It checks the memory, IDE slots, and then this error comes up: "CMOS Checksum Error - Defaults loaded". The keyboard is non-responsive, and checksum error defaults any boot disk (A drive or CD drive) does not boot up. The motherboard is new (actually all of the components except the video card and memory are new), as well as the CMOS battery. I've tried taking the battery out for a few minutes, as well as using the jumper to clear it. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this, or do I have to get another BIOS chip? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, jon May 26, 2005 #1 jpdodd TS Rookie Topic Starter For Those interested My brother came to look at my computer. Sometimes its the simplest answer that we can't find. He tried switching the keyboard and mouse, and it worked. The BIOS version that I flashed must have switched the two ports. Anyway, things are working now. Thanks for looking. jon May 31, 2005 #2 Tedster Techspot old timer..... Posts: 6,000 +15 Weird. I have the K7N2 delta 2 platinum.
