file or directoryNext: tar: tape write errortar: directory checksum http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21514484 error Cause This error message from tar(1) indicates that the checksum of the checksum error directory and the files it has read from tape does not match the checksum advertised in the header block. Usually this message indicates the wrong blocking factor, directory checksum error although it could indicate corrupt data on tape. Action To resolve this problem, make certain that the blocking factor you specify on the command line (after -b) matches the blocking factor originally specified. If in doubt, leave out the block size and let tar(1) determine it automatically. If that remedy does not help, the tape data could be corrupted. package aix tar uncompress compress download 6.0.1 Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) AIX tar command is not able to uncompress CI0I7ML_OP6.0.1 media package Symptom The AIX default tar command is not able to uncompress the contents of the OP_6.0.1_Non_Embedded_DVD_1.tar.gz, due to "tar" problems related to long file names included. When uncompressing the .tar file with tar -xvf OP_6.0.1_Non_Embedded_DVD_1.tar.gz the following error occurs: x OP_6.0.1_Non_Embedded_DVD_1/OP_6.0.1_Configuration/Database/UPGRADE_SCRIPTS/InterstageBPM_dbupgrade tar: 0511-169 A directory checksum error on media; -252676160 not equal to 44916. Cause When using AIX tar the package is not able to uncompress its contents. AIX TAR doesn't uncompress files with long names, and OP_6.0.1_Non_Embedded_DVD_1.tar.gz contains several files with long name patterns. Resolving the problem Use the GNU tar utility (gtar) to extract the files from the downloaded installation package. You can obtain this utility from the IBM AIX Toolbox using the link below, since the AIX tar utility cannot process the archive file. http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/aix/linux/toolbox/download.html Historical Number 00002037 Document information More support for: OpenPages GRC Platform Software version: Version Independent Operating system(s): Platform Independent Reference #: 1514484 Modified date: 2013-03-07 Site availability Site assistance Contact and feedback Need support?
