The error I've got in my CA Brightstor ArcServe V9 is "E8602 Failed to read from database --EC= Backup Agent Error --(69) Read/Write error in named pipes". I'm a somewhat newb in the Exchange sysadmin area and I inherited a Windows Server 2003 SBS server with Exchange 2003 SBS and Backup Exec 10d serving 6 people here (very small business) at work when our IT consultant decided to stop responding to our calls. For the most part, things have been going decently well. However, just recently I checked the backup / event logs and noticed exchange 2003 checksum some checksum errors on the Exchange private mail database. I didn't notice it before as one employee continually leaves his Outlook open when he leaves and so our backup logs always show a failed error as his personal .pst files show as corrupt / not backed up. Unfortunately, I did not catch it for some time, so I would need to go back almost a year for a database backup prior to the corruption errors (we have 3 monthly rotating backups and I just backed up to the 3rd for Feb.). This weekend, I took the mail store offline and checked the database with "eseutil /mh" and it was showing as "dirty shutdown". I then ran "eseutil /r" and that brought it back to "clean shutdown" and followed up with "isinteg -s SERVER -fix -test alltests" which resulted in 0 errors and 5 fixes (and a second run resulted in 0 errors, 0 fixes). However, the store still has checksum errors (both from "eseutil /mh" and from the ESE online defrag event) and, from my research, it appears that an "eseutil /p" followed by a defrag "eseutil /d" is needed to clear these errors. However, the database mounts just fine (before and after the eseutil / isinteg soft recovery), emails are flowing, and as
