The CMOS contains how to clear cmos checksum error data related to BIOS and may have been reinitialized. It may also be possible to fix the problem by reinitialising BIOS. The problem could also occur due to the depletion of the CMOS battery. If the user cannot cmos checksum bad fix locate the pin battery, the help of a computer technician should be taken to prevent damage to the hardware or motherboard. Solutions: Reinitializing the BIOS Before making any costly maintenance try: reinitialized the BIOS. Change BIOS battery If the problem persists this may be due to the fact that the battery powering the CMOS (when the computer is shut down it allows the CMOS to store information), is depleted. The CMOS battery is a small pin found on the motherboard; you can refer to the manual provided with your motherboard to change it or have the nearby computer technician change it for you if you don't want to risk any damage. 2014 by Alex Barbos A BIOS checksum error is one of the most common errors you can encounter when you build your own computer, perform a hardware upgrade or attempt to bring back to life a computer that hasn’t been used for cmos checksum error defaults loaded a long time. If it sounds like a scenario that’s not very likely to happen cmos checksum error dell to you, think again, as computers became so un-complicated that you don’t need to be working at NASA to know how to upgrade

or even build one yourself; in fact, learning how to build your own computer is as simple as taking this online course, so the possibility of coming across a BIOS checksum error one day is higher than http://ccm.net/faq/618-cmos-checksum-error-default-loaded you think. The error indicates that the BIOS is incorrectly configured or corrupted, preventing the computer from booting normally; unlike operating system errors or software errors that occur after your computer is up and running, a BIOS checksum error will render it inoperable right after you power it on, so it’s no wonder this type of error can seem like something really serious. Fortunately, it is not as scary as it seems, and fixing https://blog.udemy.com/bios-checksum-error/ it is quite easy. BIOS Basics In order to understand what triggers the BIOS checksum error, what the error means and how you can fix it, it is necessary to understand what the BIOS is and how it works. Simply put, the Basic Input/Output System, or BIOS, is a program that checks if all the components necessary for the computer to run are present; if everything is ok, the BIOS gives the processor the necessary instructions on how to proceed and load the operating system. Before the boot code in the BIOS is executed, though, the BIOS data is checked for authenticity by comparing one of its values, known as a checksum, against a value stored in a memory chip called CMOS; if the values match, it means that everything is working correctly, so the boot code is executed and the computer starts normally. However, if the checksums do not match, it means that something interfered with the BIOS, so the computer displays a BIOS checksum error and stops the boot process. Causes of BIOS Checksum Errors There are two scenarios that can trigger a BIOS checksum error: Something interacts with the BIOS code and interferes with the checksum it generates; Something alters the pre-defined checksum values present in the CMOS memory. The first scenario usually occurs when an incompatible piece

I regularly have the folllowing line appear when my bios starts up checksum error - CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded. It seemed to start happening when i downloaded spybot search&destroy. I have since removed the program but still have the problem. I have changed the cmos battery on the mobo as recommended in other threads, but it still regularly (every few start ups) happens. Any advice to solve the problem? The board is only six months old. CPU and RAM test fine. I have cmos checksum error two hard drives, non raid, sata connection. Nov 25, 2005 #1 netbus TS Rookie when i started reading ya post.. i thought at the cmos battery too. the message from cmos happens because the cmos has been reseted. this ussualy is done or by removing the battery temporarily... or by a jumper on the board. you replaced the battery so this isn`t a problem anymore. maybe the battery isn't fit correctly. or the jumper is not correctly set.. and periodically the contacts are touched. you should check both . it this fails.. is a motherboard problem... the cmos information is lost due to power lost from the battery that powers it. Nov 25, 2005 #2 nig TS Rookie Topic Starter Thanks for that I will look at the jumper and let you know..... Nov 26, 2005 #3 nig TS Rookie Topic Starter Ok checked CLR_CMOS (Clear CMOS) header and it looks fine - nothing touching the two wires, its open. Its a GA-K8NXP-Sli board and there is no jumper as standard. I checked the battery and changed it again. The problem persists - the CMOS checksum error came up again and the defalts were loaded.
