Main Bios Checksum Error Gigabyte Loop
Share Purple18 14 January 2012 08:59:32 Hello, I've bought a gaming computer online that contains a GA-970A-D3 Gigabyte main bios checksum error gigabyte ga-g31m-es2l motherboard. I've been using it for about 2-3 months now without any problems. I did not update my BIOS or anything because I expected the website I bought this computer from gigabyte ga g31m es2l warning main bios checksum error (cyberpowerpc) to have already taken care of that. One night I shut off my computer, and the next day I turn on my computer, it boots as it normally would: the computer gives one beep, and I receive the logo message. But then, I receive this message: Quote:Warning: MAIN BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR! Retrieving recovery source from HPA..HPA BIOS not available!! Retreiving recovery

Some extra information: 1)My PSU is not the issue as it's a 700W Corsair Brand PSU. My PC originally came with a 700W PSU with a very bad brand (XtremeGear), so I replaced it with the Corsair the minute I got it (Which was 2-3 months ago XD) 2)I've already cleared my CMOS by both using the jumper, and removing the battery for 30 seconds with no success. 3)I don't believe it is a wiring issue because it worked untouched for the 2-3 months that I have been using it. 4)The cursor is under "OK" when I am given this error message, but pressing ENTER or any other keys will not do anything. 5)I am still able to enter the BIOS menu from the logo screen. 6) I have Q-Flashed the BIOS from F6 to F7 and the problem still persists. The only thing that

I regularly have the folllowing line appear when my bios starts up - CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded. It seemed to start happening when i downloaded spybot search&destroy. I have since removed the program but still have the problem. I have changed the cmos battery on the bios checksum error mobo as recommended in other threads, but it still regularly (every few start ups) happens. Any advice to solve the problem? The board is only six months old. CPU and RAM test fine. I have two hard drives, non raid, sata connection. Nov 25, 2005 #1 netbus TS Rookie when i started reading ya post.. i thought at the cmos battery too. the message from cmos happens because the cmos has been reseted. this ussualy is done or by removing the battery temporarily... or by a jumper on the board. you replaced the battery so this isn`t a problem anymore. maybe the battery isn't fit correctly. or the jumper is not correctly set.. and periodically the contacts are touched. you should check both . it this fails.. is a motherboard problem... the cmos information is lost due to power lost from the battery that powers it.
