Tried forcing a chkdsk from the MS side on that NTFS partition by ntfsfix /dev/sda3 but to no avail. Going to let it go let me know if there is a fix for this.... and "Sandra Dee". A hash function is any function that can be used to map data of arbitrary size to data of fixed size. The values returned by https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1504415 a hash function are called hash values, hash codes, hash sums, or simply hashes. One use is a data structure called a hash table, widely used in computer software for rapid data lookup. Hash functions accelerate table or database lookup by detecting duplicated records in a large file. An example is finding similar stretches in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_function DNA sequences. They are also useful in cryptography. A cryptographic hash function allows one to easily verify that some input data maps to a given hash value, but if the input data is unknown, it is deliberately difficult to reconstruct it (or equivalent alternatives) by knowing the stored hash value. This is used for assuring integrity of transmitted data, and is the building block for HMACs, which provide message authentication. Hash functions are related to (and often confused with) checksums, check digits, fingerprints, randomization functions, error-correcting codes, and ciphers. Although these concepts overlap to some extent, each has its own uses and requirements and is designed and optimized differently. The Hash Keeper database maintained by the American National Drug Intelligence Center, for instance, is more aptly described as a catalogue of file fingerprints than of hash values. So they know if you really downloaded the right file checksum error detection or e.g. just renamed a 1 MB-file. If your file is currupted or the download was not successful the hash will be wrong. Are you sure the torrent has finished downloading? I assume the 'ingore'-button does not work... Try to close your torrent program for the installation. 0 Back to top #4 Axylus Axylus Too Legit To Quit Members 2088 posts LocationEngland, United Kingdom Posted 18 April 2013 - 08:39 AM That message means that the file is corrupted (it's 3 KiB smaller than it should be). Put the official installer in the bin (where it belongs) and use one of the download solutions offered by the community instead. 0 Back to top #5 WatchMePlayBad WatchMePlayBad I made it Off Topic Members 15 posts Posted 18 April 2013 - 08:45 AM The installer/patcher/downloader whatever checks the file with a hash.
