I downloaded the latest iso of vector linux and burned it to a cdrom. I kept getting an error message about loading the kernal whenever I tried to install it. I redownloaded the vector linux iso and made sure the md5 numbers matched. I burned it to another cd. This time, when the cdrom boots it will display the ISOLINUX text and stuff, but then it hangs for isolinux checksum error a minute or two. then I get the message: isolinux: Image checksum error, sorry... Boot failed: press a key to retry. Before someone suggests this, I have installed Debian Linux off of that cdrom drive, and Starcraft, too. I'm currently running SuSE LiveEval from this cdrom drive. I have no problems with any of these, so I don't think the drive is at fault here. However, the cdrom drive going bad is the only thing I *can* think of. Unless Vector Linux itself had a bad download up, with a good md5sum for the bad download. Does anyone have any suggestions? Running Debian Sarge No operating system is perfect, but mine is more perfect then yours is. www.linuxteens.com Reply With Quote 11-14-2004,03:25 PM #2 Choozo View Profile View Forum Posts Visit Homepage Registered User Join Date Nov 2000 Location Kongsberg, Norway Posts 3,573 What speed did you burn at, and have you tried burning at a lower speed? DistroUbuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal "isolinux: image checksum error, sorry..." but I know it's a good cd. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 lucid on my (intel) macbook pro 1,1 from a live cd I burned, using the entire hard disk. Ubuntu boots fine, but now it won't boot from the same ubuntu cd. The internal cd drive is broken, so I've been using a usb cd drive. * Ubuntu recognizes the ubuntu cd in this drive when it's already booted * I've successfully booted the computer from the Mac install cd with this drive today * the computer successfully booted from the ubuntu cd in the external cd drive when I first installed ubuntu * Other computers still boot from the ubuntu cd * the furthest I've gotten is using a rEFIt usb in one port and the cd drive in the other. Doing this, it successfully loads rEFIt and displays the linux hard drive and the linux cd. When I select the cd, it gives the following error message: "Debian-2008-07-15 isolinux: image checksum error, sorry..." * booting from ubuntu usb has never worked. Any ideas for what's wrong, and how to get it to boot from the live cd? Thank you.
