I would suggest you use the ip, or, just the main domain name in your ftp client for connecting, as the ftp. is pointing to another server. Need help with your server? PM ME! get this warning: "DNS lookup for giovinoinc.com failed. DNS is the network service that translates a server name to its Internet address. This error http://community.onemonth.com/t/cyberduck-doesnt-prompt-for-password-sftp-connection-fails/1740 is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a https://teamtreehouse.com/community/cyberduck-connection-error misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing access to the network." It doesn't prompt me for my password as it should. I have tried with FTP, FTP-SSL and SFTP and I always get this message, with no prompt for including the password. The connection failed network I'm on doesn't have firewalls that I know of, as it suggests in this warning message. I've searched online but it doesn't seem to be a common problem. I don't know where to input my password! jared_smith88 2014-12-31 21:04:13 UTC #2 saranataliac: giovinoinc.com that websites DNS does not resolve. That's the issue. It technically does not exist and so cyberduck as well as the browser cyberduck connection failed cannot resolve it. Even a trace route from my command line returns unknown host. You either need to use and IP address or a valid domain. michael_a_hinckley 2015-01-11 14:51:07 UTC #3 I'm having the same exact issue. I purchased my domain on Gator Host as instructed. Is there a wait period before the domain becomes "active" or "usable"? jared_smith88 2015-01-11 19:41:51 UTC #4 Not usually, but the domain can take as much as 24 hrs to propagate across the globe. Basically when you access a domain you hop through 5-20 servers searching for the quickest route from your current location. Each one of those servers need to know about that DNS entry and there are hundreds of thousands of these servers spear world wide., But that might not be the issue. So if it doesn't resolve wishing 1 day, post here I can help you diagnose. aguilar_daniel 2015-01-13 20:53:55 UTC #5 @saranataliac, @michael_a_hinckley I had the same problem for several days, use PORT: 2222 (SFTP) . It took me so long to find this out. Home Categories FAQ/Guidelines Terms of Service Privacy Policy Powered by Discourse, best viewed with JavaScript enabled Back to Courses
Cyberduck connection error. Hi, I am trying to open a connection, following along with the video; however after I enter all my details correctly I receive the following error: "Connection Failed: There was a problem while connecting to elliotstrickland:18765." I figured the reason could be because it has not been 24 hours since I purchased hosting for the website. Any insight would be greatly appreciated :) 3 Answers Christopher Leonard 11,172 Points Christopher Leonard Christopher Leonard 11,172 Points about 2 years ago I was just coming to the forum with the same problem. I'm guessing the DNS has to finish propagating before we can FTP our files. Anyone? Elliot Strickland 5,627 Points Elliot Strickland Elliot Strickland 5,627 Points about 2 years ago It just started working for me, I'd say wait a little while longer and yours should work too. :) Christopher Leonard 11,172 Points Christopher Leonard Christopher Leonard 11,172 Points about 2 years ago Hey!
