If so ensure that your public key is in authorized_keys Log In to Comment Leave a Comment Add comments here to get more ssh network error clarity or context around a question. First off, try pinging your server. Does it respond? Assuming it does, hop on your VNC access and run: /usr/bin/ssh status If it responds with: [ ok ] ssh is running then you're having a bad day. Check /var/log/auth.log, does it say anything about turning you down for not having an SSH key? If it doesn't, please provide your history (either run "history > history.txt" or "cat ~/.bash_history > history.txt") and Paste it. There's a bunch of possibilities, ranging from things as simple as chmoding incorrectly. Reply Log In to Comment Have another answer? Share your knowledge. I had PuTTY up & running untill I did a reinstall of Fedora13. I can ping 192.168.1.163 fine. SELinux is disabled. Firewall is default (SSH allowed on p22). I have just disabled the firewall with same result) PuTTY reports: =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= PuTTY log 2010.07.20 16:23:52 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Event Log: Writing new session log (SSH raw data mode) to file: C:\Users\wim\Desktop\putty.log Event Log: Looking up host "192.168.1.163" Event Log: Connecting to 192.168.1.163 port 22 Event Log: Failed to connect to 192.168.1.163: Network error: Connection timed out Event Log: Network error: Connection timed out Does anyone have a clue? To confuse the matters (as I can Ping 192.168.1.163 normally) see below. Any input greatly appreciated. this THREAD seems to have a short and a longer version (5 replies). It is solved. However I can't seem to edit the correct thread. Solution was given by Scot35276: sshd was not running. Thankyou Scott. Another possibility is that the firewall is blocking access (check the "trusted services" list). jpollard View Public Profile Find all posts by jpollard #3 28th July 2010, 03:19 PM scott32746 Offline Registered User Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Lake Mary, Florida Age: 52 Posts: 1,088 Re: Pink OK but PuTTY gets conne
