DistroUbuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Nt_status_connection_refused Hi all, I am sharing a error nt_status_connection_refused centos folder on my external drive using Samba. Others are unable to access it so I ran a few debug tests. Whilst trying to connect from my own machine, I get... smbclient -L my_ip Enter user password: Connection to my_ip failed (NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED) I use UFW as my firewall sudo ufw status Samba ALLOW Anywhere So there shouldn't be a problem. Any thoughts? Adv Reply August 21st, 2010 #2 karmic-koala View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Gee! These Aren't Roasted! Join Date Oct 2009 Location Oxford, UK BeansHidden! DistroUbuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Re: Nt_status_connection_refused Update - this is only true for when I connect to my ip (eth0) same command but to localhost lists valid samba shares smbclient -L localhost -N Domain = etc OS = etc Server = etc which I guess means samba is failing to bind to eth0 but I have interfaces = eth0 lo . I have a basic configuration file included below. When I try to invoke smbclient -L localhost I get the error: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED This also happens when trying to invoke smbpasswd. At some point I was welcomed to the domain VITRONIX, sadly only once. Then I thought to install an earlier version of Samba, the version that the Using Samba book covers. I was adviced not to do so, stubbern as I am, I tried it but ran into problems regarding th C compiler. So I'm back where I was two weeks ago I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, Samba version 3.4.7. I replaced all the at sings by a #. (I use ssh to log on to the server) This is the output that matters: root#ubuntu:/etc/samba# groupadd samba_domain_admins root#ubuntu:/etc/samba# groupadd samba_domain_users root#ubuntu:/etc/samba# groupadd samba_domain_guests root#ubuntu:/etc/samba# net getlocalsid VITRONIX SID for domain VSERVER is: S-1-5-21-3949740071-3132796615-663331988 root#ubuntu:/etc/samba# net groupmap add sid=S-1-5-21-3949740071-3132796615-663331988-512 ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=samba_domain_admins Successfully ad
