I think I'm doing exactly what I did successfully in another installation, but I get the following error: Any ideas? eclipse cvs eclipse-wtp share|improve this question asked Feb 3 '11 at 22:25 Paul Beusterien 9,17042861 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted I tried it with your settings and it works fine for me. Could it be a firewall issue? Another option for getting the sources would be to use the Git mirrors (at the very bottom of http://dev.eclipse.org/git/) with EGit. share|improve this answer answered Feb 3 '11 at 23:53 Fabian Steeg 32.5k564100 Thanks. The settings also work fine for me in another Eclipse on the same machine, so I don't think it's a firewall issue. It looks like Git only has a partial subset of WTP. I don't see JSDT there. My workaround is to import the projects, but it would be nice to have the team capabilities in the same Eclipse. –Paul Beusterien Feb 3 '11 at 23:57 @Paul: Ah, same machine - that's odd. Perhaps restarting with -clean is worth a try? And JSDT seems to be mirrored in Git: git://dev.eclipse.org/org.eclipse.webtools/org.eclipse.jsdt.git –Fabian Steeg Feb 4 '11 at 0:00 No luck with -clean. I see jsdt in the git list now. I'll try that later if no one has ideas about cvs configuration problem. Thanks. –Paul Beusterien Feb 4 '11 at 0:12 I installed a fresh Eclipse, set up my project, and CVS worked fine. –Paul Beusterien Feb 9 '11 at 4:42 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. No i haven't tried through command line. Actually in Eclipse we are having an option for CVS in that i had tried to give the host name as my machine IP/localhost and for the repository path i had https://coderanch.com/t/437890/vc/CVS-Configuration-Eclipse given the path where the files to be stored. But it shows connection refused. Ajan Raj Greenhorn Posts: 10 posted 7 years ago Jeanne, Can you tell me steps to configure a client cvs through command prompt. Tim Holloway Saloon Keeper Posts: 18317 56 I like... posted 7 years ago There's nothing wrong with your settings, but the CVS client code in Eclipse is attempting to contact a CVS pserver and you don't have one running. First off, localhost isn't the best place to keep a CVS server, since one of the main reasons for CVS is to have not only a change history, but also an independent repository in case your local machine failes. Plus, one of the advantages of CVS is that multiple developers can work with a shared source code archive. Regardless, you need to either have a CVS pserver process running or have a tcp/ip superserver (inetd, xinetd, or similar) listening on the CVS pserver port (2401, by default). When you run CVS on a remote server, of course, you also have to have an opening in its firewall to support pserver traffic. An IDE is no substitute for an Intelligent Developer.
