The FTP services runs in the inetinfo.exe process, which is perfectly normal and expected. –joeqwerty Mar 6 '13 at 16:19 @joeqwerty Thanks for the explanation. –etm124 Mar 6 '13 at 16:20 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted Since other machines are able to connect to the FTP server I see two possible causes: The XP machine IP address has been automatically (or manually) banned or blacklisted, causing the FTP server to reject any connection from this IP A firewa

Setting your FTP client to have a lower number of concurrent connections to the server will resolve the issue. JeffMa 11,186 Points 2014-01-29 10:59 am EST Status: Connecting to 76.189.214.113:21... I can't connect to FTP anymore either. Firewall and Anti-Virus software can be ruled out. Not only have I disabled them and un-installed them completely, I have also completely formatted my PC and attempted to connect to my FTP server. I have confirmed that the default Windows Firewall was also off at that time. There's nothing wrong with the remote servers either - and there's nothing wrong with the credentials connection refused windows I am using. I know this because nobody else is complaining of this with the same provider, and I am using the same methods and credentials and software I have always used, but this is only a very recent problem. I cannot use Web Deploy with Visual Studio anymore either. I cannot use Windows Explorer to connect to any FTP site. My hosts' tech support team is stumped and so am I. I am left thinking that the only thing this could be is either missing system software/drivers or a bug in Windows 10 Home edition. Nevertheless, I need FTP and I need e-mail. But I am assuming that if I can fix FTP, e-mail will then be working. Even though E-mail doesn't use FTP, I am assuming based on the specifics of this problem that it is related to whatever is causing FTP connections to not work. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot/fix FTP stuff on Windows? Edit: I forgot to mention that I can no longer ping any host using CMD.exe anymore as well. The only host I can successfully ping is my local network. I can't ping google.com, bing.com, yahoo.com or any other site. And this is on a totally FRESH install of Windows (with all drivers installed and up-to-date). windows ftp cmd.exe share|improve this question asked Nov 29 '15 at 14:17 username 1114 This looks like you have a problem with your n

WinSCP needs a SSH or FTP server to be installed at the other end (on the machine you want to connect to). In particular, you cannot easily use it to connect to another Windows workstation, since Windows does not have an SSH or FTP server included by default. Please refer to FAQ. You are trying to use protocol that the server does not support. Particularly you are trying SFTP/SCP (over SSH), but the server supports FTP; or vice versa. Check selected protocol on login dialog. Note that WinSCP defaults to SFTP protocol, while most other similar applications default to FTP. The server is running on non-standard port. Please make sure you enter actual port number on login dialog. You may need to connect through proxy server, but you have not specified one on Proxy page of Advanced Site Settings dialog. Connection was blocked by firewall. Please refer to FAQ. If you are trying to use WinSCP to connect to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, please refer to FAQ.
