the top FTP refuses any and all connections (vsftpd) up vote 0 down vote favorite Even on localhost using the ftp command, through the web server on WordPress, on my personal computer through FileZilla, in short, I need my FTP server but it refuses to let anyone connect. Using SSH FTP (or whatever it's called) works perfectly, but even when I enable SSL on vsftpd which I think is the ftp localhost connection refused ubuntu same thing, it still doesn't work. I've followed many tutorials on how to set it up, tried wiping my server multiple times, nothing works. Using netstat -tlpn returns this result, it seems the process is running but is not listening, even though in the config file listen is set to YES. When trying to connect to my ftp site, I am getting a ftp: connect :Connection refused. I have confirmed that other machines are able to connect to the FTP and transfer data. I have a batch file doing the FTPing: I've taken the following steps to try to remedy the situation: ping: I am able to ping and receive a response from my FTP server tracert: I was able to do a full tracert and was able to get to my client machine to the host firewall: There are no firewalls enabled on this machine other FTP: I am unable to connect to any other FTP site telnet: I am able to telnet to port 21.
