Reply Log In to Comment 0 jakub December 4, 2013 Hi, You tried other SSH clients? Alternatively, check using nmap-if port 22 is not used by any service or firewall. Reply Log In to Comment 0 pablo December 4, 2013 Are you ssh connect to host port 22 connection refused ubuntu trying to connect after a fresh install? Or, perhaps, is there a firewall deployed or the SSH port got changed? Can you log in using the remote console? Reply Log In to Comment 0 stevelack December 10, 2013 I'm having the exact same issue. I can log in using the Console but can't ssh in from terminal or via SFTP. I didn't intentionally install a firewall on my droplet. How would I check for that? This is a new droplet created from a snapshot image. Reply Log In to Comment 0 AJB February 3, 2014 Same here. Reply Log In to Comment 0 AJB February 3, 2014 I took a snapshot and then tried to launch a larger droplet and now I'm locked out of both. I'm getting: ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 22: Connection refused Reply Log In to Comment 0 kamaln7 MOD February 3, 2014 @ajb: Try logging into your droplet using the remote console and running sudo netstat -plutn do you see an instance of openssh/a program listening on port 22 there? It would work fine, but while I am working on the SSH, I would get "connection refused" and would have to re-connect (which does not occur for good 5-10 minutes). I have tried everything (restart linux, restart ssh) yet still does not help. I've checked var/log as well but http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/4709/ssh-connection-refused-on-raspberry-pi-cannot-find-why nothing helpful in there... NOTE: Interesting note I found is, when I try ssh to my external ip(277...), it goes to black cmd screen, I close this and try my 192.168.0.13 address and it lets me sign in.. but short while, again connection refused... Of course if I open my server and sudo sshd restart, my ssh "connection refused" goes away...
