connect failed: Connection refused 3.2 is another machine. I think the port might be blocked. How can I make this work? linux iperf failed share|improve this question asked Jun 16 '11 at 7:28 Hao 1552212 3 This may be a stupid question, but: are you running "iperf -s" on 192.168.3.2? –Handyman5 Jun 16 '11 at 8:52 1 Another reason to http://serverfault.com/questions/280961/iperf-connect-failed-connection-refused get this error is running the IPerf server in UDP mode and client in TCP mode and vice versa. –user1407196 Jan 24 '13 at 14:46 Make sure Server & Client versions are the same... I had the same problem! –user301514 Jul 26 '15 at 21:28 Make sure you are using same version of iperf –user348148 Apr 9 at 18:12 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote I doubt that this is a firewall issue. Usually, firewalls employ the DROP rule for packets that are not allowed. A "connection refused" means that there is no application listening on the port it tries to connect to. The destination host indicates this with a corresponding ICMP message to the source. In order to run iperf you must have a server running on the machine which you iperf to. To do this run iperf -s on the server. After that you can then run iperf -c
Debian Linux, Gentoo Linux, Linux, Networking, RedHat/Fedora Linux, Tips, Troubleshooting, Ubuntu LinuxI am getting error that read as No Route to http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/no-route-to-host-error-and-solution.html Host. I am trying to ping my ISP gateway as well http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-networking-3/odd-problem-no-route-to-host-put-can-ping-879681/ as DNS server but I am getting this error. How do I solve this problem?
This problem indicate networking conflicts or some sort of networking configuration problem. Here are things to check:Can you ping to your local router interface (such as 192.168.1.254)?Make sure your connection refused card (eth0) is properly configured with correct IP address and router address. Use ifconfig command to configure IP address and route command to setup correct router address. If you prefer to use GUI tools:redhat-config-network - Works on Red Hat and Fedora Linux/Cent OS.network-admin - Debian and Other Linux distribution use this GUI tooUse above unable to connect two GUI tools to setup correct IP address, DNS address and router address.b) Make sure firewall is not blocking your accessiptables is default firewall on Linux. Run following command to see what iptables rules are setup: # /sbin/iptables -L -nYou can temporary clear all iptables rules so that you can troubleshoot problem. If you are using Red Hat or Fedora Linux type command: # /etc/init.d/iptables save# /etc/init.d/iptables stopIf you are using other Linux distribution type following commands: # iptables -F
# iptables -X
# iptables -t nat -F
# iptables -t nat -X
# iptables -t mangle -F
# iptables -t mangle -Xc) Finally make sure you are using a router and not a proxy server. Proxy servers are good for Internet browsing but not for other work such as ftp, sending ICMP request and so on.See also: List of LINUX troubleshooting commands/tools part # 1 Share this on:TwitterFacebookGoogle+Download PDF version Found an error/t
