works: Anybody can ask a question Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top Mounting Directory - Connection Refused up vote 2 down vote favorite 1 I am trying to mount a Directory from my server to my local machine. This is because I want to edit the directory and execute the files without having the manually push the files clnt_create: rpc: port mapper failure - unable to receive: errno 111 (connection refused) to the server after each edit. I am using NFS and currently getting: 'Connection refused' when I try to mount from a machine on the same network. My server ip is 192.168.0.12. My local machine ip is 192.168.0.2. And in /etc/exports I have: /mnt/export 192.168.0.0/24(rw,async,no_subtree_check) /mnt/export *(rw) where /mnt/export is the directory I want to mount and I have chmod 777 -r the directory On my local machine I execute this command: mount 192.168.0.12:/mnt/export /Desktop/tes But get this error: can't mount /mnt/export from 192.168.0.12 onto /Desktop/tes: Connection refused Does anyone have any idea to where I am going wrong? linux networking mount nfs share|improve this question edited Jan 16 '13 at 1:03 Gilles 373k696771128 asked Jan 15 '13 at 10:33 Phorce 1451110 You sure the service is started? –warl0ck Jan 15 '13 at 10:37 @warl0ck Thanks for the reply. Did you set up sharing correctly on your Windows machine? After checking that, try:smbclient -L hostnameto see if you can connect to the box. [root@esx41 mnt]# mount -t cifs //192.168.44.88/shared /mnt/CIFS -o user=administratorPassword:mount error 111 = Connection refusedRefer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs) This is probably caused by the ESX firewall issue, to enable Samba client connections: [root@esx41 samba]# esxcfg-firewall -e smbClient And this should fix the mount error 111 problem.
