The following message appears: Now this is fairly common as I've seen from the dozens of sites that mention it (even here on Ubuntu's forums, but I haven't found the solution in them yet). What I've tried: 1). restart ssh service: Code: /etc/init.d/ssh restart I tried the same thing with sshd but that doesn't exist on my system and can't be located with apt-get -- just mentioning that because I've seen it on a few of the forums I've read so far. 2). make sure port 22 is open in firewall. First off, try pinging your server. Does it respond? Assuming it does, hop on your VNC access and run: /usr/bin/ssh status If it responds with: [ ok ] ssh is running then you're having a bad day.
