Realvnc 10061 Error

[ subject ] [ author ] Ronald, You misunderstand: error 10061 indicates that the server computer didn't even accept the TCP connection in vnc viewer connection refused by host computer the first place - the connection never got to the stage of being connected timed out waiting for a response from the host computer vnc nor authenticated. This is why there is no logged connection in the .log file. Possible causes are: - Broken TCP vnc connection refused raspberry pi stack on the second machine - Broken DNS setip on the second machine (what form of VNC Viewer address do you use?) - A firewall configuration at the server that permits connections only vnc connection refused ubuntu from certain addresses - A firewall configuration at the server that permits connections only via certain network interfaces - Some sort of firewall software on the second machine, that is aborting the connection at the source. It only happens when the remote machine isnt logged on. If the machine has a user logged on VNC connects fine. I cant figure out why I can VNC to the login screen on some, and others it just dumps me out with that error and not display the login screen. Try logging onto that machine and trying to vnc again and I bet it works. If you find a solution im dying to know. Send PM 30th September 2008,05:41 PM #4 FN-GM Join Date Jun 2

Try port-forwarding your router and configuring your firewall. I assume you have a NAT router (private ip is 192.168.*.*). What router are you using, what firewall (for iptables, google "iptables port forwarding" (without quotes), others I need to know what firewall you have). If you don't use ftpd, set vnc to port 21 (ftp) Jana Nguyen wrote: > I tried to connect to the vnc server (running on rh linux) from the > vnc viewer (running on windows xp), but I get an error: > > Unable to connect to host: connection refused(10061). I am hoping someone here might help me to shed some light. Here it comes:1. CentOS 5.4 behind a router on a DSL connection (ports 5900 and 5902 forwarded).2. VNC Server installed and configured VNCSERVERS="2:username"VNCSERVERARGS[2]="-geometry 1024x768 -depth 16 -nohttpd" (I have also tried it with -localhost)3. netstat -l output:# netstat -lActive Internet connections (only servers)Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address Statetcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:2208 *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 192.168.1.100:mysql *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:715 *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:5900 *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:sunrpc *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:ipp *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:smtp *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:2207 *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:http *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:ftp *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTENtcp 0 0 *:https *:* LISTENudp 0 0 *:xdmcp *:* udp 0 0 *:entrust-kmsh *:* udp 0 0 *:tbrpf *:* udp 0 0 *:mdns *:* udp 0 0 *:59371 *:* udp 0 0 *:sunrpc *:* udp 0 0 *:ipp *:* udp 0 0 *:ciscocsdb *:* udp 0 0 *:mdns *:* It seems port 5902 is not listening for some reason... I have added both 5900 and 5902 to the firewall settings in Gnome GUI, enabled all the Remote Desktop options and started vncserver :2 via command line. Is there anything else I need to do?Problem: I can't connect using RealVNC viewer (free version) from my Windows XP laptop at home - I get a "Connection refused (10061)" error. I also can't connect using VNC viewer locally from the server, getting a different error (111). I am also unable to connect via Telnet on 5902.The real kicker is that I had set thi
