Report • #1 Fingers January 11, 2011 at 05:02:03 ✔ Best Answer"4gb ram, 512mb nvidia 8400gs,asus motherboard,500gb hard disk" Isn't much to go on. Reset your CMOS with jumper, button(if one), or by removing the button battery (power disconnected), then pressing the power button for a few seconds (see manual). Then go to BIOS set up and 'Load Optimal Settings' or 'Load Defaults' save and exit. If you were trying to overclock, then learn what you are doing before proceeding since OverVolting is to be done very carefully. If you need more help, please give important details you are missing. System, MB model, exact RAM, power supply make/model, etc.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane. This site is about helping people, lets keep it that way. Ok, so the problem is this: my computer shut off because of an over-temperature error. Sounds simple, right? I restart the computer, go into BIOS, and look at the Hardware Monitor for the temperature and voltages. My CPU temp. says 98 degrees Celsius. After I awoke from the floor, I shut off the computer, b

About 380C where as, it was cpu over usually about 330C.All fans working.I rebooted. On bootup, I got the "CPU overvoltage Error", press F1 to continue. If I continue, the PC works fine, except that the cpu temperature is higher as I mentioned above. Now, ever after, on every boot up, I get the CPU over voltage error.Note that I have not made *any* changes in the bios, motherboard or any software recently. I have *not* attempted error press f1 any overclocking. This problem more or less suddenly appeared.(I mention this because when I searched for the cpu overvoltage error" in this forum over clocking was mentioned, which I have not done). On booting I entered the bios setup and checked the CPU voltages indicated:VCORE = 1.632V (in red)3.3V = 3.285V = 5.01712V = 12.144CPU temp = 500CCPU fan = 2636CPU I am using is Intel P4 Dual core 2GHz E2180OS am using is Vista.Am posting this from another computer as am afraid to run the computer with the problem incase cpu or motherboard may get damaged. How do I set about resolving this problem ?VCORE seems to be too high. What would be causing this sudden cpu over voltage error ?Thank you.
