As the title states I get an error on boot that says CPU Over Voltage Error and Power Supply Surges Detected. In the BIOS it the CPU Voltages are in the red. Their values are in the image below.I tried taking out the CMOS battery and putting that back in, along with a few other work arounds but with no luck. Hopefully you can assist me in solving this problem. Thanks ahead of time for your assistance. Here are the computer specs, it was recently built probably about 6 months ago.CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 Haswell Quad-Core 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo)Motherboard: ASUS

Report • #1 Fingers January 11, 2011 at 05:02:03 ✔ Best Answer"4gb ram, 512mb nvidia 8400gs,asus motherboard,500gb hard disk" Isn't much to go on. Reset your CMOS with jumper, button(if one), http://www.computing.net/answers/cpus/what-is-cpu-over-voltage-error/16290.html or by removing the button battery (power disconnected), then pressing the power button for a few seconds (see manual). Then go to BIOS set up and 'Load Optimal Settings' or 'Load Defaults' save and exit. If you were trying to overclock, then learn what you are doing before proceeding since OverVolting is to be done very carefully. If you need more help, please give important details you are missing. System, MB model, exact RAM, power supply make/model, etc.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane. This site is about helping people, lets keep it that way. About 380C where as, it was usually about 330C.All fans working.I rebooted. On bootup, I got the cpu over "CPU overvoltage Error", press F1 to continue. If I continue, the PC works fine, except that the cpu temperature is higher as I mentioned above. Now, ever after, on every boot up, I get the CPU over voltage error.Note that I have not made *any* changes in the bios, motherboard or any software recently. I have *not* attempted any overclocking. This problem more or less suddenly appeared.(I mention this because when I searched for voltage error asus the cpu overvoltage error" in this forum over clocking was mentioned, which I have not done). On booting I entered the bios setup and checked the CPU voltages indicated:VCORE = 1.632V (in red)3.3V = 3.285V = 5.01712V = 12.144CPU temp = 500CCPU fan = 2636CPU I am using is Intel P4 Dual core 2GHz E2180OS am using is Vista.Am posting this from another computer as am afraid to run the computer with the problem incase cpu or motherboard may get damaged. How do I set about resolving this problem ?VCORE seems to be too high. What would be causing this sudden cpu over voltage error ?Thank you. Hi My PC has been REALLY unstable, I think I am suffering a need to update my memory as well as creating new C4 ideas useing old SX3 projects... But It seems my CPU is really running hot from boot up, starting out at about 64 and then getting hotter... and the RAM is also running hot... I have checked the fans and they work. I am getting crashes all the time, pretty much I can close a project and open another without it crashing, and I often cant even pull up plug ins with out it doing nothing or pulling up the plugin with no interface on it.... and then often just crashing.... often when rebooting I am getting this message and alarm telling me that there is a "CPU Over Voltage error", and to press F1 to continue.... does anyone know what this is?.. Is it an update i need or does it sound like my PC has gone *hits* up? any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
