driver are you using? NOTE: If you're set up using a 64-bit database driver and ODBC connection, it won't work - Crystal requires a 32-bit connection.-Dell DecisionFirst Technologies - a Proviti Enterprise 9-Time SAP BusinessObjects Partner of the Year. www.decisionfirst.com IP Logged masterdineen Newbie Joined: 28 Sep 2010 Location: United Kingdom Online Status: Offline Posts: 26 Posted: 25 Jul 2012 at 4:18am Yes i think so. can youchoose crystal report database connector error between a 64 and 32 or does it depend on the machine ie 64bit or 32 bit IP Logged masterdineen Newbie Joined: 28 Sep 2010 Location: United Kingdom Online Status: Offline Posts: 26 Posted: 25 Jul 2012 at 4:21am Is there another way i could execute the stored proc? IP Logged hilfy Admin Group Joined: 20 Nov 2006 Online Status: Offline Posts: 3506 Posted: 25 Jul 2012 at 5:01am No, you can't chose - Crystal will only work with 32-bit connections. What type of database are you connecting to? If it's SQL Server, have you tried using an OLEDb connection instead of ODBC? Sometimes there are issues running SP's through ODBC connections. You don't mention which version of Crystal you're using. The version will determine which data types Crystal "understands". So, I would also check the data types of the input parameters to the SP and see whether there are any "new" data types being used. If there are, you may want to seewhether they can be converted to older data types and see if that works in your report.-Dell DecisionFirst Technologies - a Proviti Enterprise 9-Time SAP BusinessObjects Partner of the Year. www.decisionfirst.com IP Logged masterdineen Newbie Joined: 28 Sep 2010 Location: United Ki

Known Issues and Solutions / Solution: Failed to Open the Connection Solution: Failed to Open the Connection Before The Report Viewer will work on http://www.thereportviewer.com/documents/report-viewer-documentation/known-issues-and-solutions/solution-failed-open-connection your system, you must setup and configure the database connections that are referenced inside your report. If they are not setup, you will get a "failed to connect https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/35a4e984-240c-4257-9c00-a9e8d7f5d30d/crystal-reports-stored-procedure-error?forum=transactsql message." This is expected and normal. Just takes a bit of work to setup and configure the connections properly. Generally this is done by the person who designs crystal report the reports or the person who maintains the database. Issue You try to open or refresh data on a report, and get a message box that says "failed to open the connection." Resolution The computer has to be configured to connect to the datasource referenced in the report. Setup the system the same way as the computer crystal report database used to design the reports. Install the same database drivers (32-bit versions). Give them the same name. Your report files contain database references. Here are some guidelines: You have to setup the database driver on the client PC (the one with The Report Viewer) The software support most any type of database driver, so guidelines are general. You have to setup the PC and database drivers the same way you would a system with full Crystal Reports. You must use a 32-bit version of the database driver The software works fine on 64-bit systems (using 32-bit database drivers) The 32-bit ODBC database driver is in this location on 64-bit systems: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe If using ODBC, the DSN must match the DSN hard coded inside the report file You must configure the database server to allow connections from the client PC. Many database servers will reject connections if their IP, PC, or username isn't explicitly allowed to connect; and they won't tell you why. If you get a connection er
