Crystal Report Error In Formula This Field Name Is Not Known
PM Currently Being Moderated I'm have a very frustrating time getting this report to work.Version CR: 11.5 R2A SP6 (11.5.3700)I am adding a new report crystal report formula editor to a well established application developed in VB 2005.The application is using the CR SDK to accomplish most things. My form (crptInsulationReportSummary) is connected to a SQL Server 2008 data source. While in development mode I can select the "Main Report Preview" tab and see that the report is connected properly and that crystal report formula date format data shows up in the report. When the application is run the following occurs in the order presented:clsInsulationReportSummary.InitializeDataSet()call PrintInsulationReportSummary() CrystalReportsHelper.DatabaseIntializationLion InsulationSummaryReport.RecordSelectionFormula = ... InsulationSummaryReport.SetDataSource( ...The code for the above routines is pasted below. It seems very simple and straightforward, however no matter what I try (I've even deleted the report and started from scratch) I keep getting the following error depicted in the image below.I'm not getting an error, per se, just a blank report, but when I dig through the object this is what I find.Let me know if you need any more information.Thank you.Tim Caldwell(contents for above calls)Public Class clsInsulationReportSummary Public Shared dsInsulationReportSummary As DataSet Public Shared Sub InitializeDataSet() dsInsulationReportSummary = New DataSet dsInsulationReportSummary.Tables.Add("vBOMInsulationReportSummary") End Sub End Class Private Sub PrintInsulationReportSummary() Dim InsulationSummaryReport As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument InsulationSummaryReport = New crptInsulationReportSummary Try CrystalReportsHelper.DatabaseIntializationLion(InsulationSummaryReport) InsulationSummaryReport.RecordSelectionFormula = " ({vBOMInsulationReportSummary.head_order_nbr} = 'SDJ120123-17')" InsulationSummaryReport.SetDataSource(clsInsulationReportSummary.dsInsulationReportSummary.Tables.Item("vBOMInsulationReportSummary")) Catch ex As Exception MessageBox.Show("Error Generating Report: StackTrace:" & ex.StackTrace()) End Try

the user to enter one or more countries and a date range. The report works fine locally in Crystal Reports XI -- it prompts the user to enter https://scn.sap.com/thread/3177928 one or more countries and a date range, and then returns all the records that match those criteria. But when I upload the report to CR.com and attempt to run it, I get the following error message after entering the country and date range parameters:"Error in File [report name]: Error in formula . '({@CreateDate} = {?DateRange} http://scn.sap.com/thread/1042569 or ' This field name is not known. Details: errorKind"I can't find anything that explains what the errorKind msg means. Everything else seems to check out (in terms of data types matching up, etc). Any thoughts or explanations on what's going on and how to straighten it out would be very much appreciated!Frank 12398Views Re: Error in Formula: "This field name is not known" error on CR.com Mario Quintana Sep 12, 2008 2:50 PM (in response to Frank DeBonis) Currently Being Moderated Hi Frank,In reviewing the error message, I would check the following:1. Confirm that all data source objects are correctly mapped and verified within Crystal Reports. It is possible that a database field within one of the tables has changed or been modified on the DB side of the house. If a report was to refresh against the existing structure and not find the object (name mismatch or object has been deleted) you would see a similar error message. 2. From the initial syntax you

Handling crystal report formula Exceptions for the Crystal Report Engine Visual Studio .NET 2003 When you run Crystal Reports through your application, there may be times when the Crystal Report Engine causes an exception. When an exception occurs, it can cause an error dialog to appear or cause reports to stop processing. Some of the causes of an exception are: The Report Engine is unable to connect to the database. This can be because a database location or incorrect logon parameters have been passed to the Report Engine. It can also be because of other database errors such as the table being locked by another user, the database engine being improperly installed, or the table being corrupt. Incorrect data has been passed to a parameter. If a parameter receives incorrect data from code or from user input, it can cause the report to stop running. For example, a string value passed to a numeric parameter will stop the report from running. An error is found in a Crystal Reports formula. If one of the formulas in the report cannot be properly evaluated, an exception will be thrown. This can be due to incorrect syntax in th
