Has anyone else come across this issue or a possible solution? crystal-reports internet-explorer-8 activex share|improve this question asked Jul 16 '09 at 21:04 Davin 871211 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted A workaround is http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1140301/crystal-web-viewer-activex-will-not-install-on-ie8-and-windows-7 to download the ActiveXViewer.cab file, extract the contents to a folder in C:\ on the machine used to view the reports and register the DLLs manually. The URL for the cabinet file for Crystal 11 (XI Release 1) looks something like this: http://yourwebsitewherecrystalisinstalled/crystalreportviewers11/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab Once you have extacted the contents to a folder on your hard drive, register the DLLs. You only need to register the DLLs that are not provided by the OS. For Crystal 11 (XI Release 1) the commands to register the DLLs are: REGSVR32 /S CRVIEWER.DLL REGSVR32 /S REPORTPARAMETERDIALOG.DLL REGSVR32 /S SVIEWHLP.DLL REGSVR32 /S SWEBRS.DLL Update - to install the Crystal Web Viewer ActiveX from a web site in IE8 on Windows 7, try: 1) Login to a local administrator account (but not the built-in local administrator) 2) Add the site to your trusted sites list 3) Enable UAC at the default level - reboot if needed 4) Launch IE8, browse the site and click through the prompts Once the control is installed, it can be run by non-administrators on the same machine and UAC can be disabled / reduced. share|improve this answer edited Jul 23 '10 at 22:06 answered Sep 23 '09 at 17:11 trs1980 563 Thanks, worked perfect. –Justin Jul 20 '10 at 15:38 can i know the root cause ? –Brainchild Oct 5 '10 at 6:48 Thanks, manuall

Solved IE 9, Crystal Reports XI, and ActiveX Report Viewer Issue Posted on 2011-10-20 Crystal Reports Web Browsers 1 Verified Solution 1 Comment 14,369 Views Last Modified: 2012-12-05 Our firm has a web based application. We have a new client that is having an issue viewing crystal reports due to the fact that they are not able to download the ActiveX control for the report viewer. I have done some research on the subject. Two solutions I have found in regards to the IE 9 and the Crystal Reports XI report viewer issue: One solution is to manually install the ActiveX control first. However, this involved a third party product—ReCrystallize Pro(http://www.recrystallize.com/merchant/details.htm). In this particular case, ReCrystallize Pro includes an ActiveX manual installation MSI file. This is for the Crystal XI R2 ActiveX viewer. The ActiveX MSI file is downloaded to the client, and then run to manually install the ActiveX viewer. Then, when the client goes back to a web page that uses the control IE 9 will prompt and install normally. The other solution involves opening the Developer Console in IE9 and choosing the “Internet Explorer 8” option as the Browser Mode; however, in this particular instance, when the user attempted to open the report, they got a prompt to install the ActiveX control. But this failed because the signature could not be verified. To rectify this, they went into Internet Options, and changed the Security setting to “Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid.” Unfortunately, while this is a resolution, it does involve opening up a hole in the browser. If this option is employed, the client needs to make sure that other software and ActiveX security settings (in the per-zone settings, for instance) are set to minimize the ability of any code to run unhindered or unannounced. That is, if you can’t completely disable unsigned ActiveX controls or those not marked as safe, at least set them to prompt for user approval before running. Does anyone know of any other possible solutions to this? 0 Question by:Hawke
