(The error is not reproduced if Crystal Reports Designerstartedfrom the Application icon) Cause Crystal Reports application does not have requiredAdministrative privileges on the machine. Resolution Reinstall SAP Crystal Reports 2011 with required privileges. According to the Installation Guide: "You must have Administrator privileges on the computer that you intend to install SAP Crystal Reports on." On the latest versions of Windows, even if logged in As local Administrator,right-click setup.exe file and select "Run as Administrator".If you do not have Administrator account, try right-click "Run as" Select current user and uncheck the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity". Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC). Once you've established the connection on your computer then in the data tab you can go under ODBC and find this connection (Note that you can also create a new connection from Crystal - you don't have to do it via the Control Panel).
