the database. Issue You try to open or refresh data on a report, and get a message box that says "failed to open the connection." Resolution The computer has to be configured to connect to the datasource referenced in the report. Setup the system the same way as the computer used to design the reports. Install the same database drivers conexion crystal report sql server (32-bit versions). Give them the same name. Your report files contain database references. Here are some guidelines: You have to setup the database driver on the client PC (the one with The Report Viewer) The software support most any type of database driver, so guidelines are general. You have to setup the PC and database drivers the same way you would a system with full Crystal Reports. You must use a 32-bit version of the database driver The software works fine on 64-bit systems (using 32-bit database drivers) The 32-bit ODBC database driver is in this location on 64-bit systems: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe If using ODBC, the DSN must match the DSN hard coded inside the report file You must configure the database server to allow connections from the client PC. Many database servers will reject connections if their IP, PC, or username isn't explicitly allowed to connect; and they won't tell you why. If you get a connection error with "vendor database error" number, then that number is an error number from your specific database type. Search online for t

that utilizes the crystal report viewer. Tis app is installed on 6 servers running SQL 2005 SP3 Server 2003 OS fully patched. On crystal reports sql server connection string 5 of the server I can successfully run the APP with XP or Win7 and everything works fine. 1 server when I run the app on a win 7 machine I get Failed to open connection Details Database http://www.thereportviewer.com/documents/report-viewer-documentation/known-issues-and-solutions/solution-failed-open-connection Vendor code 17 each time the crystal report viewer is run. Works Fine on an XP machine. Since it runs sucessfully on other servers it leads me to beleive there is a configuration issue with the server. But I have no idea what the issue might be. It seems the way the win7 machine is connecting is diffrent and needs toPipes and TCP are in enabled. Each one of the servers has an app installed and works perfectly with XP. the app is written in VB6 and uses the crystal report viewer to open an display reports. When I try to run the report from the app on win 7 machine to one of the serversI get a crystal report viewer error failed to open connection details: [database vendor code:17 the odd part is 5 out of the six servers I can open an run the app in WIN7 with no issues it just this one server that has the issue. It leads me to beleive that something is not configured correctly with the server to where a win 7 machine is not compatible in the data access. This is really bothersome does anyone have any ideas?
