Crystal Reports Debug Mode
of great developers asking and answering questions 24 hours a day. The archives of .NET Questions contain years of Q&A. Even older .NET Questions are still online, too. Debugging a Crystal Report I wrote a new Crystal Report. Nothing fancy. When I try to export to pdf (which I have often done before without trouble) I get an error. The https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/844751 error window has the title "Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer", and the message isError in File C:\ (temp file full path here)Error detected by report DLL:Nothing follows the colon, i.e. the actual error message seems to be missing.I have not a clue about how to find this error. Any ideas? The problem seems to be the two consecutive returns in a text object as per the last link. Putting a couple blanks on the blank line seems to be the cure.CR has a zillion faults, but the port of CR to Visual Studio and a zillion zillion. This CR report has a field that doesn't display its crystal report contents, it keeps displaying "0.00". I went into SQL analyzer and ran the scripts of CR and the filed or columns do have values. Is there a way to DEBUG a Crystal Report like Visual Basic (in VB, we can pu a Stop and use F8 to go instruction by instruction) 0 Question by:rayluvs Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 7 Best Solution byPCIRichard You can't debug in a similar way to VB. 2 things to try are looking at the SQL crystal report error script that crystal is using (Database > Show SQL Query) just to be sure it's asking for the right data. If the Query looks wrong, check the record select formulae. If the script looks OK, you can just drop the relevant data fields in the report to see what they contain (i.e. the fields you use in a formula) 0 Message Active today Author Comment by:rayluvs2009-09-07 understood on Database > Show SQL Query When do u mean by "If the script looks OK, you can just drop the relevant data fields in..." 0 LVL 7 Overall: Level 7 Crystal Reports 6 DB Reporting Tools 2 Message Expert Comment by:PCIRichard2009-09-07 Assuming that the 0.00 is the result of a formula within crystal, you could drag and drop the database fields from the Field Explorer on the right of the designer window that the formula uses into the report to see their values 0 Message Active today Author Comment by:rayluvs2009-09-07 Ok understood. 0 Write Comment First Name Please enter a first name Last Name Plea
