Crystal Reports Prompting Failed With The Following Error Message List Of Values Failure
Verified Solution 3 Comments 2,166 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-15 I have a report that uses several sub-reports. The sub-reports all use different stored procedures with parameters as their datasources. This report use to work without a problem. I recently changed the datasource to use an ODBC connection from an OLE DB connection. Now when I try to run the report from infoview I get a "Fail crystal reports error to start prompting" error. When I try to verify the databases in the sub-reports I get the following error: "Prompting failed with the following error message: ." Error Source: Error code: 0x8000FFFF". I searched and found a knowledge base article on the SAP support site but it was not helpful as it recommended installing a hotfix. Since the report was already working before I don't think this is the problem. Any ideas? I am using Crystal XI and Business Objects Enterprise XI. 0 Question by:GJeff Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byGJeff Board Monitor please close this thread, a co-worker found a fix. The main report gets its data from a SQL query and the subreport gets its data from a stored procedure. Now when I do a Verify Database on the main report it displays me a prompt to enter the parameter values for the subreport. I want to know whether https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24611267/Prompting-failed-error-when-verifying-a-database-in-Crystal-XI.html this prompt can somehow be suppressed?I am using the Crystal ActiveX viewer to display the report on a window in a Powerbuilder application. I have done a verify database through Powerbuilder code and it displays the same prompt .I want to somehow suppress this prompt because it will not be good if users see this prompt each time they run the report.I would like to mention https://scn.sap.com/thread/1162950 that when I do a Verify Database on the subreport it shows me a message "Prompting Failed with the following error Message:''. Error Source: Error Code :0x8000FFFF"Could this be the problem? How can this be resolved?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Edited by: Amol Patwardhan on Dec 11, 2008 10:26 AM 4106Views Re: Getting prompt for parameters while Verify Database Don Williams Dec 11, 2008 5:15 PM (in response to Amol Patwardhan) Currently Being Moderated Hi Amol,Need more info:Which report engine are you using and what version of Crystal? It the Stored Procedure that is pormpting for the parameter values, Crystla is simply passing the request on to user.Use the CurrentValue or set the all to NULL and then verify. If the data source hasn't changed then you don't need to call Verify. Thanks againDon Alert Moderator Like (0) Re: Getting prompt for parameters while Verify Database Amol Patwardhan Dec 12, 2008 10:59 AM (in response to Don Williams) Currently Being Moderated Hi Don, Thanks for the reply.I am using Crystal Reports XI R2 with Powerbuilder 9.0. When I upload the .rpt https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/55430 to the server (Central Management Console) and run the report, it complains, "Error in File SUMMARY REPORT: Error in formula . 'Local NumberVar tmpCntInv; ' This field name is not known. Details: errorKind"----------------------In the main report, I did normal table join and allow Crystal Report to generate the relevant SQL. However crystal report in the sub-report, I use "Add Command" function to input my own SQL statement. Below is the situation I've tested:Scenario 1: SELECT "TABLE1"."FIELD1" FROM "SUBFIX"."TABLE1" "TABLE1" WHERE "TABLE1"."FIELD1" = {?input1} (Main Report (CR generated SQL))Select field2 from table2 where field2 = {?input1} (Sub-Report (custom SQL from Add Command))[Failed to work... above error is displayed]Scenario 2:SELECT "TABLE1"."FIELD1" FROM "SUBFIX"."TABLE1" "TABLE1" WHERE "TABLE1"."FIELD1" = {?input1} (Main crystal report error Report (CR generated SQL)) SELECT "TABLE2"."FIELD2" FROM "SUBFIX"."TABLE2" "TABLE2" WHERE "TABLE2"."FIELD2" = {?input1}(Sub-Report (CR generated SQL))[Things are working fine...]Appreciate if anyone is able to help in this matter... If it's two different db's, do you have "Verify on Refresh" turned on? I suspect it's two different db's and that the structure of the one your deployed report is running against has a slightly different structure than the one you've developed on. -Dell DecisionFirst Technologies - a Proviti Enterprise 9-Time SAP BusinessObjects Partner of the Year. www.decisionfirst.com IP Logged Savan Senior Member Joined: 14 Dec 2007 Location: India Online Status: Offline Posts: 162 Posted: 04 Nov 2008 at 4:27am try using global NumberVar tmpCntInv instead of Local NumberVar tmpCntInv Thanks Savan IP Logged cLife04 Newbie Joined: 02 Nov 2008 Location: Singapore Online Status: Offline Posts: 2 Posted
