Handling Exceptions for the Crystal Report Engine Visual Studio .NET 2003 When you run Crystal Reports through your application, there may be times when the Crystal Report Engine causes an exception. When an exception occurs, it can cause an error dialog to appear or cause reports to stop processing. Some of the causes of an exception are: The Report Engine is unable to connect to the database. Error source: Error code: 0x80070057 You may also see another error message: Additional parameter values are needed before this report can be saved or viewed https://www.itsupportguides.com/crystal-reports/solved-crystal-reports-prompting-failed/ with data. Click 'OK' to enter the missing values or 'Cancel' to proceed without data. If you click ‘OK' you see the first error message, if you click ‘Cancel' the report does not run or refresh. Solution Where the error message is empty, I've found that it's because a parameter field has been set to dynamic but has not been assigned a database field to load the dynamic options. In this situation you can either change the parameter value to static - where you will need to manually enter the value when running the crystal report (making sure to enter it exactly as it is in the source data), or by specifying the the database field for the dynamic field. You can do this by expanding ‘Parameter Fields' in the ‘Field Explorer' and editing the field (if you have more than one, you will need to check each). To change the field to a static field, change ‘List of Values' to ‘Static'. To specify the database field, click
the Crystal Reports start page Wednesday 19 November 2014 @ 11:32 am One of my customers sent me a question about an error message they got when they went to open a report. I recognized it as an error I had seen http://kenhamady.com/cru/archives/2615 recently on a customer's workstation. Then today I closed and reopened Crystal and got the same error message. For those of you who open reports by double clicking the RPT file it might seem that there is a problem with report, but this is a problem you will see anytime the CR designer starts. I have written before about how the Crystal Reports start page will request internet access and try to load dynamic content (ie ads). crystal report I showed users how to prevent the start page from requesting internet access by renaming a few files. What we are seeing today is that there is apparently a problem with some java script in the way that dynamic content is loaded. Once SAP fixes the problem the error should go away. In the meantime if you just stop the script the reports should load and run fine. If you don't want the start page to load web crystal reports script content you can use the method in the post mentioned above.
