Dcom Error 1909
Log): DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon DOMAIN\USERNAME in order to run the server {EEB7EFB8... Cause There is a problem with https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/255770 the user account or password of the Windows user which is configured to run the Controller COM+ application. Resolving the problem Steps: Ask the I.T. department's Windows domain administrator to check the user specified inside the error message (for example "Domain\username") Ensure that the user is not 'locked out' and the password is set to not expire Reset the password if this is http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21429662 not known Logon to the Controller application server as an administrator Ensure that the user (for example "Domain\username") is a member of the local "administrators" group on the application server Launch 'Controller Configuration' from the Start Menu Open the section 'COM+ Server' Check the value for the 'user' and change if necessary Check the value for the 'password' and change if necessary Press 'save' icon Reboot the Controller application server, and test. IMPORTANT: If you are running a separate Consolidation Server, the "DCOM got error Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." may NOT appear on logging into Controller and doing various tasks, but happens only when you are running a Consolidation. If this is the case, you need to change the Consolidation server's COM+ password to match the one updated in steps 1-10 above. See this TN for details: Split ting the Controller COM+ to enable load-balancing of consolidation VFP components across separate physical server https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21440369 To confirm is this is so, open the PDF doc at the foot of the above TN and go to page 19. Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-10004-source-DCOM-eventno-11-phase-1.htm quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common https://www.ramblinggeek.co.uk/general/dcom-got-error-logon-failure-unknown-user-name-or-bad-password/ to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 dcom got minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. read more... unknown user name or bad password.” May 6, 2010 Wayne General I was getting a lot of these errors in the system event log on one of the servers we maintain. This thread put me on the right track to resolving the problem, http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread39730.html 1. Go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Component Services 2. Expand the Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config (I received an error at this point, I clicked no) 3. I then change the view to details which displayed the Application ID. I went thru until I found the application id that matched that in the event viewer. 4. Click on the Identity Tab. On that tab there is a "This user:" radio button which contains the username and password that my Component is using. Simply change the user login information, you may have to restart the machine. Hope it helps 🙂 UPDATE: Corrected a few typo’s. 🙂 One thought on “DCOM got error “Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.”” Pingback: Tweets that mention The Ramberlings of a Geek… » DCOM got error “Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.” -- Topsy.com Leave a Reply Cancel reply Post navigation MS SQL resetting the auto incrementSage Line 50 and Windows 7 64bit Login/Registration Please login if you have an account.
