Also Malwarebytes didn't detect anything when I finished scanning. with this error: "Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:800423f4 Aborting Backup." In that case when I look in the System Event log, I consistently see 2 Errors: 1. "Timeout (30000 milliseconds) http://www.databaseforum.info/5/19/aabcb81f3323ad1c.html waiting for a transaction response from the cisvc service." This error is there 100% http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/infected-w-trojan-zeroaccess-inf-cannot-remove-winxp-pro-sp3.179323/ of the time when the backup fails. 2. "DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service ntmssvc with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server: {D61A27C6-8F53-11D0-BFA0-00A024151983" This error is seen before error #1 about 50% of the dcom got time. This error is also logged everytime the System is booted up. I have downloaded and installed the backup utility without benefit. I have used SFC /SCANNOW 3 times, and each time I am asked to insert XP Profesional CD and I can see some CD activity during the process, but this error never gets fixed. I have a new hp machine, Pentium D 2.8 gHz, 2GB, Windows Media Edition I would appreciate any dcom got error help. Control panel, double-click administrative tools, double-click services, scroll down to DCOM, right-click, properties, Start-up type, automatic. Might look at Volume Shadow Copy, start-up type, Manual. Look at the dependencies to be sure they are also started. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ > About 80% of the time, my backup attempt fails with this error: > "Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:800423f4 > Aborting Backup." > > In that case when I look in the System Event log, I consistently see 2 Errors: > > 1. WinXP ProSP3 Byscotpig Mar 30, 2012 Page 1 of 2 1 2 Next > Hello, My Laptop running XP Pro, sp3... Norton Security Suite Keeps on finding a Trojan during my daily scan... I have followed instructions via Symantec websites' Removal 411 and Dloaded the FixTDSS.exe, ran it, and it says it's clean...And the next day it has returned... I have also tried Kaspersky's free removal tool and it still keeps showing up. When prompted to restart, sometimes my system freezes, forcing me to perform a Hard Boot, and sometimes it just doesn't auto restart, it just turns off. When that happens, i.e.- shutting down incompletely, does that negate the scan performed prior? Or do I need to do it all over again until it restarts properly, does that even matter? I'm currently scanning thru the self help/Malware Removal Guides, but any direct, specific assistance from anyone would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in Advance!
