Posted by Dev Mgr on 7 Jun 2006 12:25 As you posted that you tried another keyboard, you may be looking at a bad keyboard controller on the motherboard.Try disconnecting the mouse and only leaving a known good keyboard. If the issue still persists, you may be looking at having to replace the motherboard. One thing that is always recommended on the Optiplex range of that era is to pull the riser cage (where the PCI/ISA cards go) and see if the issue goes away. If it does, try adding the empty cage and then re-adding 1 card at a time till you find the culprit. Trending Now Answers Relevance Rating Newest Oldest Best Answer: Is it a Dell? if so this is the fix To clear the checkpoint error, completely disconnect PC from the power. Press/hold the power button for ~15 sec. Open the case and remove battery from the motherboard. Press/hold power button again. Reinstall battery -right side up! Close the case and reboot. Now run Bios setup. You have to look for the option to disable the floppy drive controller. Set it to disabled, save the change and exit. Removing floppy from the boot sequence will NOT stop that error message. You must disable the floppy controller which is on the motherboard. If so, go to a blank space on your desktop and RIGHT click and choose Properties. Then go to the Screensaver tab and click the Power button at the bottom right. Go to the Hibernation tab and uncheck Use Hibernation. See if that stops the problem from occurring.
