I managed to fix the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the s/w. :) Top Fatal error Code 1 / -3 / 9000 by Neil Smith » Thu, 11 Oct 2007 06:13:42 No, it's not - media player errors have specific fomat of 6 letters or digits between http://www.yqcomputer.com/159_14731_1.htm 0-9 and A-F, which is why I know it's not a WMP error message ;-)) Typical error codes are listed on this page, you'll see what I mean about the error code format immediately : http://www.yqcomputer.com/ #index Cheers - Neil ------------------------------------------------ Digital Media MVP : 2004-2007 http://www.yqcomputer.com/ Top Fatal error Code 1 / -3 / 9000 by Neil Smith » Fri, 12 Oct 2007 06:51:51 On Tue, 09 Oct 2007 21:13:42 GMT, "Neil Smith [MVP Digital Media]" * Of course, I meant to type "8" there
guide to the OptiPlex Diagnostic Indicators Dell OptiPlex systems have a long history of built in diagnostic indicators. These can be audible beeps, power buttons that display different states and colours, specific diagnostics LEDs or a combination of them all, in order to indicate at which point during the Power On Self Test (POST) a system is having issues. The http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN284978/en following article is a reference guide to the codes available on each model and what those http://help.suddenlink.com/television/Pages/VODErrors.aspx?product=DVR codes actually mean. These change through the various models and years. These indicators are merely a starting point to narrow down any troubleshooting you will carry out to identify the cause of your current issue. These LEDs do not indicate the dell optiplex 790 problem that caused the POST routine to stop. Note: Please be aware that if your system completes POST without stopping on a particular error code and then gives a black screen, the most likely reason is that you are experiencing a No Boot issue and not a No POST issue at all. Back to Top 1. Diagnostic LEDs for the OptiPlex series (Prior to 2005) This series of systems had a block of A, B, C, D LEDs on the back of the chassis that lit up in Green and Amber. I've included a table below with what these indicated. These models were readily identifiable by the rounded fronts and clamshell assembly.
