We have an Optiplex 980 with the following issue. 2 weeks ago the PC shutdown and don't power up. We swap de workstation so the user can continue to work. I started the pc 1 week ago and the Led in the power button was blue and blinking. Today I power up and the led in power button is normal, blue (steady). Diagnostic lights are: 1-) Blinking 2-) Off 3-) Steady 4-) Steady Any idea what this means? I google it but I don't see this exact combination of led status. Thanks Tags: Dell116,843 FollowersFollow Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: OptiPlex 980 Sleep Issues   4 Replies Datil OP Big Green Man Sep 2, 2015 at 5:29 UTC Does anything appear on the screen? The problem was related with the graphic card and CMOS battery. I replaced both items and now the workstation works like a charm. Thanks anyway. 0 Tabasco OP Best Answer alex.bub Sep 2, 2015 at 5:48 UTC Memory is my best guess since 1, 3, and 4 all have to do with memory. For the sake of not having to type out my recommendation, check out this Dell support forum article. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19502499 If that does not fix it, I would swap the power supply. If the machine blue screened before shutting off its likely RAM, if it just died, it is most likely PSU or overheated CPU. 0 Serrano OP caballo2000 Sep 2, 2015 at 6:23 UTC alex.cwptech wrote: Memory is my best guess since 1, 3, and 4 all have to do with memory.
